1959 Edsel RangerLess than 300 miles on restoration!Amazing shape! No Reserve! Up for auction is my beautiful 1959 Edsel Ranger! This car is in absolutely gorgeous shape, and runs and drives amazing! Here is a little back story on the car: I purchased the car from Ms. Shirley Hines of Brainerd, MN. Shirley acquired the car from her cousin, Randy Berd (also of Brainerd,) who received the car as a gift from his aunt, Ms. Gertrude Berg (the original owner of the car) in the mid 2000s. Randy is an over the road trucker who picked the car up in California and brought it to Minnesota. After deciding he had neither the time nor patience for such a project car, he sold the car to Shirley. She and her husband Lyle collect cars, and decided to have the Edsel restored so that Shirley could have a car to bring to shows. At the time, the Edsel was complete, but the California sun had taken its toll on the paint, chrome and interior. The car was stripped down and sent to be painted at George’s Auto Body of Baxter (well known locally for excellent restorations,) and all chrome on the car was removed and replaced. The interior was also completely redone, with the work performed by Mike Hammad Upholstery of Brainerd (also locally renowned.) All cosmetic restoration work took place between 2008 and 2011, and still remains in fabulous condition today. The Edsel has less than 300 miles on it since the restoration, and 97K miles before it was restored. In addition to the cosmetic restoration, the car was kept up very well mechanically, with work being done on everything from the brakes to the fuel pump. There has been too much done to mention it all here, but all receipts for this work are included with the sale of course, and I can provide any information to prospective buyers. I purchased the car this spring, and immediately had a mechanical inspection done. I found everything to be in excellent condition, with the exception of the 97K mile original engine, which was in need of a rebuild. The engine was removed and torn down, the block and heads were sent to a machine shop, and a master rebuild kit was purchased from Northern Auto Parts of Sioux City, IA. The engine was then re-assembled by very experienced engine builder Dan Waldman of Brainerd, MN. The overhaul was completed in June of this year, and I am truly impressed with the results! Car starts, runs and drives amazing. This Edsel Ranger is a joy to drive, and it garners as much, if not more attention than any other collectible I have completed to date. The pictures speak for themselves, and this car would be a great addition to any collector’s garage. Over 50K was spent on the restoration alone. Car is currently registered in Minnesota and has Minnesota collector plates, but the old California black plates are included. As always, the car is sold as-is. I welcome inspections, and encourage potential buyers to look at the car before bidding. Give me a call at 218-839-9771 with any questions, or to plan a time to look at the car. Thanks, and good luck bidding!
