Numbers Matching 1970 Dodge Charger RT (the real deal) Videos of the Charger - http://vimeo.com/user12961244/review/58139914/23c5f48722 http://vimeo.com/user12961244/review/58140911/c502f0b260 http://vimeo.com/user12961244/review/58141601/50724bb835 This is the story: I purchased this Charger about 2 years ago. I purchased it off Ebay. Prior to purchase, I had a pre purchase inspection done by Steve Linden. Steve is a nationally respected car expert. Seen many times interviewed by Jay Leno. Just Google "Jay Leno Steve Linden", or go to youtube.com and search. The charger was in great condition, just painted, and ran ok, but after I purchased it, I wanted to take it to another level. Here is a list of a few things I have had done in the past few years to the Charger. Engine: Numbers matching 440 Magnum – Just overhauled with Competition “Thumper” cam (sounds wicked), valve springs, lifters, new pistons, rings, main, rod and cam bearings installed. New oil pump, oil pump driveshaft. New deep oil pan. Installed Edelbrock 750 Carb with electric choke. (I have detailed photos, showing each step, from the company that did the overhaul) New MSD Distributor with electronic ignition and MSD wires Transmission: rebuilt factory 727 TorqueFlite transmission along with stall converter and high performance flex plate. Rear end – Installed new 3.91 gears Factory Air Conditioning - upgraded to Classic Auto Air kit which included Sanden compressor, condenser, etc. Original glass except windshield looks to have been replaced. Power steering, power brakes Steering: (completely overhauled) Replaced original with Firm Feel stage 2 gearbox, linkage and pump, Inner and outer tie rods, adjusters, pitman arm, idler arm and pressure hoses. Brakes: (completely overhauled) Replaced factory drums with front and rear 13” SSBC cross drilled and slotted rotors with floating 3 piston performance aluminum calipers (powder coated black). We did a complete tear down of front suspension components, cut out old bushings, strip rust from all suspension components removed and paint with KBS rust proofing agent, install new bushings, assemble front suspension with new bearings, ball joints, spindles, bearing races, mater cylinder, brake hoses, front brake lines, strut bar bushings and upper and lower control arm bump stops. Suspension: replaced front suspension bushings and ball joints along with Edelbrock IAS Shocks on all four corners. New LED tail lights (which look amazing, especially at night)(shown in video above) Interior: Entire floor, rear seat and package tray lined with two layers of “B-Quiet” aka "Dynamat" sound deadener. New carpet, new interior on front seats, new headliner. Exhaust: 2.5” exhaust with X pipe and Flowmaster mufflers with turn down “dumps” over axel. Sounds very very mean. Wheels & Tires: Front – Coys (C-57) 17x8 polished wheels 255-45-17 Nitto NT555 tires Rear – Coys (C-57) 18x9.5 polished wheels 295-45-18 NT555 tires I do have original rally wheels/tires if you want them. Basically everything listed has been purchased/completed in the last year and a half to two years ago, but the kicker is, I haven't put more than 750-1000 miles on it. I simply get the car out on a sunny Sunday every once in a while and go for a short cruise. I have receipts for pretty much everything you see listed. This Charger runs beautifully, looks unbelievable, and is simply bad ass. I have a large fleet of exotic vehicles and this Charger by far gets the most attention. This Charger has a $44,999 buy it now, but the reserve is less. You will be hard pressed to find a comparable Numbers Matching RT of this caliber for my Buy It Now price! If you have questions, simply ask them. I do have additional pics if needed. What it does need? a speedometer cable, horn does not work and original 8 track does not work (the 440 sounds better than any rock band ever could), needs hood signal indicators and finally the evaporator needs to be replaced. The evaporator was the only portion of the A/C we kept original and it worked fine for some time, but then the welds started to slightly leak. All very minor issues. I am being upfront and honest. Clean, clear title. No issues. Fender Tag Decoder: First row: M21 = Drip Rail Moulding M31 = Body Belt Moulding R11 = AM Radio 2 Watt V6X = Black Longitudinal Tape Stripe 26 = 26" Radiator Second row: V1X = Black Vinyl Roof B51 = Power Brakes C16 = Console C55 = Bucket Seats H51 = Air Conditioning J25 = 3 Speed Wipers Third row: EF8 = Dark Green Metallic C6XA = Charcoal & Black Vinyl Buckets TX9 = Black 804=August 1969 01-31 004114 Fourth row: E86 = 440 cid 4bbl D32 = 727 Automatic Transmission XS29 = Charger R/T U0G 100975 The code above is comprised of three unique values that each mean something different. U = 440 cid 4bbl. Second position indicates the model year. On a 1970 Charger this value will always be 0 (zero) which indicates it is a 1970. Third position indicates the assembly plant. On a 1970 Charger this value will always be G which indicates it was built at the St. Louis assembly plant. All 1970 Chargers were built at the St. Louis plant. The final number on the bottom line is the build sequence number at the St. Louis plant. The plant started the 1970 model year with sequence number 100001 and worked up from there. One must remember that the St. Louis plant made other models as well.not just Chargers so the sequence number is assigned to each car as it moved in order through the assembly plant.
