Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1971 Corvette coupe with it's factory original numbers matching 350 (270HP) engine. If you are looking for a perfect concourse car, this is not it. This car should be driven and enjoyed, not stuck in a bubble. It has 101,739 ORIGINAL miles on it. I bought this car from a lady in a rural Iowa town who sadly lost her husband to Lou Gehrig's decease. This was their baby which they bought in 1991 (I have her receipt from dealership in Malcom, IA which will come with the car) so they owned it for 21 years, and she had tears in her eyes as I drove off. I also have a handwritten Bill Of Sale from previous owner stating current mileage. This is an ORIGINAL RED CORVETTE, not a yellow or green one painted red for resale..(see trim tag in pictures)Original 400 Trim (Black Vinyl Seats)Original 973 Mille Miglia Red I have over $3,500.00 in receipts from the last 12 months spent on the car including the following:- New Battery ($109 at Chevrolet store)- Rear Suspension: Replaced 2 rear track bars and spring mounts ($350 at Chevrolet store)- 4 Wheel alignment (89.95 at Chevrolet store)- Brake System: Replaced New Master Cylinder, 2 New front calipers, 2 front brake hoses, added fluid & bled brakes ($785 at Chevrolet store)- Coolant System: Replaced New Radiator, New Water pump, New Thermostat & Gasket, 2 New Radiator Hoses, coolant flush ect. ($1,010 at Chevrolet store)- New Radiator fan Shroud ($201 at Eckler's Corvette)- New valve cover gaskets, new fuel pump, lines & filter. Rebuilt carburetor, install new fan shroud ($639 at Doug's Auto - Burlington, WI) My family business buys and sells corporate aircraft for individuals and companies, I tell you this because we have to operate by only the highest level of integrity and whenever selling an aircraft, we communicate and illustrate every scratch, dent or "undesirable" known on the aircraft at time of sale and that is how I am handling this sale as well. I have taken as many pictures to try to illustrate the condition of the car and any scratches ect. The car is not perfect by any means, but is a great looking and very original car with many of the original components intact as seen in pictures. As you can tell a lot has been spent in the last 12 months on the car and you may ask why i'm selling: I would be keeping this car as it is my dream car (my dad has had a few corvettes), however when you have a 1 year old baby, a basement that needs to be finished and a wife that wants more finished room in the house for baby to play, something has to give. The car drives/tracks incredibly straight which proves true the fact that it has never been in any type of accident. When I wash the car, the weatherstripping/T-Top seals/Door Seals do their job and don't let any water in, however show their appropriate age as seen in pics. Chips/Scratches: scratch on right headlight cover, small area paint irregularity on hood, small scratch on lower side drivers door, very small hole/crack in fiberglass on rear LH quarter panel down behind bumper brace. Chrome is in good condition, however the right rear bumper shows a bit more wear/weathering if up close. The fan shroud just needs to be adjusted toward left about 1/8" as the fan makes contact with it now and then and makes a noise - Very simple fix and may be done by time auction ends. Exhaust sounds great and throaty, no evidence of any leaks.. Headlights work great and just come up slow as most vettes. Wiper door system works, however I've never driven the car in the rain. The engine is numbers matching and engine compartment includes metal distributer shield and engine block orange valve covers, and Air/Conditioning system (again, i always have T-Tops off so haven't ever had need for A/C. The engine to my knowledge has never been modified or bored in any way. Has original FM Radio (currently inop, haven't tried to fix as I prefer the sound of exhaust rumble) and the original black vinyl seats are in excellent condition for age. Dashboard is also in very good condition with no cracks ect. If you have any other questions please email me using the above "Ask Seller Question" as I reply pretty quickly to email. This car is for sale locally.I have over 100 pictures but only can put 12 on Ebay so email me your email and I will send you some condensed pictures via email. Thanks and Good Luck!!
