!978 BMW R100S Red Smoke. I just put on new Conti tires last week they still have the nubs. The push rod tube seals were leaking so I took the top ends apart, honed the cylinders and replaced all gaskets. I replaced the clutch plate, lubed the trans spline and checked the rear main seal, it was good no leaks. I changed the motor oil and filter using Mobil1 20-50. I also changed the gear oil in the trans final drive and drive shaft. It has Progressive shocks an after market top triple clamp( much stronger ) electronic ignition and braded stainless brake lines . This bike has the 40 mm carbs and exhaust and goes like stink Now the bad, the bike was damaged in the past and the insurance company totaled it, so it has a salvage title. He said the damage was mostly cosmetic and he had the bike under insured that's why it was totaled. He bought the bike back and fixed it himself for much less than the estimate. He had it repainted with OEM paint and WOW they did a nice job, the pictures don't do it justice. It has a small nick in the clear coat on the tank top and some scratches on the left side cover from being ridden but that's normal. the seat had a small tear that was repaired The left muffler has some cosmetic acid damage hence the new battery, Which is a Yuasa sealed unit. The speedo is a metric unit and not original to the bike, reads KM/H so the mileage is a guesstimate I am a Michigan certified master motorcycle mechanic and BMW certified in 1983. National number 0077. I work for the local BMW dealer repairing airhead BMW'S.
