Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1973 Dodge Challenger. I've owned it since 1996 and it had approximately 21,000 original miles. It is now showing 37k. Owned by non-smokers for at least the last 20 years or more. I know the last 2 owners and the builder of the car. The vehicle was media blasted and painted in 1991 with PPG glamour Turquoise and the paint has held up nicely. Because it is driven, there are some chips in the paint, but the car shows out well and attracts attention. Of course, it is garage kept. Originally a JA5 Dark Silver Metallic,340,4speed, it is now painted a PPG Glamour Turquoise. The 440 was built in 2000 and has been an amazingly good runner that starts right up and will idle below 700 RPM with a sweet lope. The Tremec TKO II 5speed is an earlier version of the current TKO 500. It was supplied by Keisler as a complete kit with new aluminum bellhousing, McLeod diaphragm Clutch, and driveshaft. It has dual exhaust with Terminator mufflers coming out the stainless steel tips in the rear. I have had this car a along time and have replaced or rebuilt everything over the years. I have traveled to the Mopar Nationals many times in it, as well as many car shows, and it averages 15 MPG. It could probably do much better if it had a vacuum advance distributor. I used to show the car a lot, as most of the trophies in one of the pictures was earned by this vehicle. The Dana 60 rear axle is from a '69 B-body and has offset spring shackles, new 10 inch drums, brake cylinders, shoes, and hardware. Rear ratio is 3:54 Sure-Grip, New Mopar Performance "Hemi" H.D. bias design leaf springs-6 leaves on left/5 plus 2 half leaves on right, Aftermarket Helwig rear Sway Bar, Air shocks in rear Power disc front brakes with new SLOTTED ROTORS, with pads, bearings, and seals. All fuel and brake hoses have been replaced. Polygraphite bushings, KYB shocks, HD .960 diameter Torsion bars and 1-1/8" Front Sway Bar Power steering unit rebuilt to Firm Feel Stage One firmness by Steer & Gear Engine: 1966 440, Bored .030" over, Forged 6 pack pistons, Comp Extreme Energy Camshaft 274/286 duration .488/.491 lift, 452 ported & polished heads with Comp valvesprings and retainers, Hooker Ceramic coated Headers, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold and 750 CFM Carburetor,MSD 6AL ignition and MSD distributor, custom Stainless steel shrouds and covers Chrome hood hinges, rebuilt by SMS Kenwood CD/AM/FM radio with front and back speakers, Equalizer, see picture showing large Amps hidden behind panel in trunk Powermaster 75 amp chrome alternator The wheels are polished aluminum Center Line Hellcats with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires P235/60R15 front & P255/60R15 rear I included many pictures hoping you can get the best idea of how nice this vehicle is. I suggest that you come and see it for yourself I am working on another project and will need to sell a vehicle to help finance it and make room. I considered swapping the 5speed and Dana to a regular 4speed and 8-3/4 rear and maybe reducing the price. If anyone has these parts already, and interested ,we might make a deal. It has been raining a lot and cannot get any pictures outdoors. My photography skills and picture quality and do not do the car justice. I see that there is some bidding interest for the vehicle and I am motivated to sell. I will probably be reducing the reserve price and let it go, otherwise it may be some time before I can relist it. You can see from the pictures under the hood that there is quite a bit of detailing, with the stainless steel covers and the custom hood pad. The air scoops on the hood are open to the engine bay with grill inserts. Like I stated, the entire car was media blasted , the under side is painted a matte black that is easy to keep reasonably clean. I tried to remove and replace some other pictures with ones of the door panels and some other angles of the body, but ebay would not let me swap some pics, or I can't figure out how to do it. It has the rally dash wit 7000 RPM tachometerOn Jul-05-13 at 14:27:45 PDT, seller added the following information:I have all parts receipts and documents on file and will compile them, along with any electrical modifications, such as electrical,or fuse locations, and any other history to help maintain this vehicle. Thanks for looking. On Jul-06-13 at 14:04:43 PDT, seller added the following information: I lowered the RESERVE, and it is very close to being met. You do not need to have two bidders to escalate the auction, you can also go up on your maximum bid and secure it, providing you are not outbid. I also contacted ebay and was not able to add or change to better quality pictures. I had some of the interior door panels and some of the car on a Chassis Dyno. It put out 337 HP to the rear wheels, which shows that the engine is producing about 420 HP at the crank. The latest Mopar Muscle Magazine showed that the power steering pump alone consumed 7.6 hp and the water pump and alternator another 8hp, so starting with a rated 370 HP stock motor, it is bumped up a respectable amount without being undrivable. There is most likely some more HP available with a little tweaking. Looking at the vehicle, I failed to mention that it does not overheat as proved last year at the Somerset Kentucky Cruise. It was over 95 degrees and did not overheat in that long line of traffic to get in when many cars were boilng over. I also failed to mention that it has a Flaming River steering wheel. I can't think of anything else right now, but probably will remember some other features before the auction ends. Thanks to everyone for looking.
