Vehicle Detail
1970 Javelin SST 360 Background I purchased this vehicle from the widow of the third owner, she told me they purchased it from the second owner in 2008 timeframe and the second owner is the person who did all of the work to this car. Originally the car was metallic light green; the second owner must have pulled the fenders, doors and hood off to repaint to black as everything is black now. There are some spots in the engine compartment where you can still see metallic light green for whatever reason. According to paperwork I did receive the restoration must have been done in the mid 1990’s. (See below) I did receive some paperwork from the second owner when I purchased the car and this is what it stated; “This is the original matching numbers 360 Javelin SST engine (*) was restored about 12 years ago (**) not a frame off but a healthy restoration. The motor was clean and stock on the bottom end. Heads were machined and done with hardened valve seats. ¾ edelbrock cam and intake with a 650 carburetor added. Runs strong, tranny shifts fine, welded custom exhaust, no headers but still sounds throaty, Electronic distributer. Drum brakes all around that stop excellent” *According to my research I cannot guarantee the motor to be the numbers matching motor. ** So if they purchased the car in 2008 timeframe the restoration was done in mid 1990’s BODY The body on this car is in very nice shape, the paint shines well, the chrome seems to all been polished or replaced with new. The door tag must have been removed during the restoration as it is not installed unfortunately but I do know they sell replacement tags on the internet. Very nice shape overall Interior The interior was all redone using Legendary interior products in the original black color as it came from the factory, new seat covers, new headliner, new carpet and the dash pad seems to be in excellent original condition. It has the rare factory rim blow steering wheel but it is not working presently, there are vendors that restore these steering wheels to like new condition on the internet. A button was added to the side of the dash to use as the horn. The windshield wiper switch is not the factory one, it was moved to below the dash for whatever reason, but both the horn and windshield wipers work as new. AM/FM stereo. Engine & Mechanicals The car runs and drives amazing, I could not guarantee anything obviously as it is a 40 plus year old car but I personally would have no problems taking this on a 1,000 mile drive it runs and drives that well. The tires are like new. Wipers work, Horn works, Lights all work, Radio works etc... Honestly these cars do not come around to often, this is a good one.
