1976 CB 550K Four: I have been the fourth owner of a very nicely restored collector Honda. I have ridden this bike about 2,000 miles. Restored by the previous owner and I quote here: "The frame has been sandblasted and powder coated along with the swing arm; center stand; triple tree lower; motor mounts; side stand along with other bits & pieces. ENGINE: While the engine was out of the frame, the barrels were removed, pistons & cylinders inspected and no noticeable wear was evident. The cam chain tensioner was in excellent condition as was the cam & rocker assembly. The oil pan was removed & cleaned & painted with case coat engine paint. ELECTRICS: The wiring harness was removed, connections cleaned, harness itself cleaned, all electrics, switches, indicators, lights, charging, & horn work as intended. It is equipped with a turn signal buzzer that does work. Tires are modern Dunlop 404s front & rear, new tubers and rimstrips were installed at time of restoration. Gas tank was cleaned and coated by Gastank ReNu; petcock was rebuilt as well as the carbs at the time of restoration. The carbs are synced and in a very good state of tune, it starts easily and runs/idles as intended. The seat is original and un-restored. It does show well and is generally in good condition . Included is a new after market seat cover. CHROME: The wheels were disassembled; spokes removed and cleaned; the chrome is very good with only a couple of very small rust spots on the rear wheel. Fenders and fork ears are also in nice condition and were cleaned and reused. PAINT: The paint is a base coat/clear coat modern automotive type; an exact template of the original tank stripes was made and then was copied in paint, NONE OF THE STRIPES ARE DECALS! No one can believe it and assume they are stickers. All of the warning and mechanical decals are in their proper places and present. EXHAUST: Brand new Honda 4 into 4 exhaust system was installed at the time of restoration." The last 3 years during my ownership I have installed a new windshield (Slip Streamer). A full service was completed in 2012. Several books are included: Honda Performance Portfolio; CB 550 Original owner's manual; original warranty & record service booklet; Clymer Maintenance book; and an Owner's Workshop Manual. Also in 2012 I installed a new O-ring type drive chain. On May 1, 2013 a new Exide battery was installed. The brake master cylinder & calipers were rebuilt. Pads near new. Rear shoes are new. This wonderful bike should please anyone who is interested in vintage Japanese motorcycles.
