Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a low-mileage, nicely upgraded 2008 BMW G650 Xcountry with ABS. These are great all-around, scrambler-style bikes, especially well-suited for urban commuting, but they can still handle interstate travel with no fuss thanks to a gutsy 53hp from the well-proven, fuel injected 650cc single. The Xcountry is a great bike for riders of all skill levels. This two-owner example has done just over 6k miles from new, and comes ready to ride with some pricey upgrades, including: Baja Designs 8" LaPaz halogen headlight ($250)Touratech neoprene fork protectors ($40)Touratech heavy duty aluminum skid plate/sump protector ($230)Touratech hand guards ($110)Touratech Garmin Quest/Quest2 locking GPS mount ($220)Akrapovic Evolution titanium exhaust system, complete system including header pipe, silencer, and carbon fiber heat shields (~$1800)Touratech textile tail pack ($100)Hepco & Becker rear rack and top case ($400)New BMW battery and chain at the 6k mile service, completed last year at MAX BMW (total charge about $1300) Condition:The original owner purchased this bike new from BMW Manhattan (for almost $10k) in March 2008. It was parked on the street in Manhattan for its first year, so it has some nicks and scratches and corroded bolt heads and such...but it's still a great, low-mile bike underneath, with awesome upgrades. The bike has never been down, save for a possible kick stand tip-over while when the prior owner had it. At the 6k mile service in 2012, a new chain and battery were fitted. This service included BMW's annual service and a full brake system flush as well. I did not order the high/low beam circuit with the BajaDesigns light, so it only works on high beam. I have the light adjusted to a nice middle position and have never been flashed...or you can order the high/low module from BajaDesigns. There's a 3-4" scratch on the plastic cover on the right side of the black bodywork above the engine. One of the small metal tabs used to mount the small windscreen is bent, but it does not interfere with mounting or alignment of the screen itself. I have started this no-reserve auction at much less than the combined ~$4500 cost of just the upgrades/accessories (all new since 2010) and the 6k mile and annual service in 2012. With that service done, you can enjoy several thousand miles before the next scheduled service. Tires are the originals, but they are still in good shape reflecting easy use and low miles. Current mileage is 6,047 but this could but could be slightly higher by the end of the auction. Terms and conditions:The bike is sold on a clear Georgia title in my name. No warranty is expressed or implied; the bike is sold as-is. I have tried to describe it as well as possible, but I encourage any prospective buyers to see/inspect the bike in person before bidding. Included in the sale is the original owner's packet, receipt for the 6k mile service at MAX BMW, as well as keys for ignition, top case, and GPS mount. The original headlight and exhaust are also included if the buyer wants them. I will not crate or ship the bike, but I will make myself available to meet/assist the shipper of your choice. I can also deliver the bike within a reasonable distance of Brewster, NY, but coordinate/confirm this with me ahead of time if delivery is a deal breaker for buying the bike. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. Good luck!
