Vehicle Detail
For sale or possible trade (See bottom of description for trade info) I am selling my 1950 Chevy Pickup that I have been working on for many many months. It was purchased by me from the past owner of 45+ years prior to me getting it. It was a farm truck prior to me buying it. The person who I purchased it from was in his 60s or 70s and bought it as his first vehicle, then later in life gave it to his father, and when his father went into assisted living he re-acquired the truck and got it running and driving again. I traveled to NE Missouri to buy it and listened forever to the background story on the truck and how the previous owner taught his grandchildren to drive it in the pasture and on the gravel roads. It had much work done to it before I got it and was running and driving, but since acquiring it I have done the following: Motor: The entire drivetrain is ORIGINAL! It was professionally rebuilt and machined with no expense spared by Performance Machine in Manhattan, ks. Receipt totaled over $7000 for the clutch, transmission, and motor. New radiator and cap, 6-volt alternator from 5th st antique auto in clay center, ks, rebuilt starter, new motor mounts, new heater and radiator hoses, some new firewall grommets, engine block heater, motor and tranny were beadblasted and painted, tranny and exhaust manifolds were cleared and look great. New modern chrome air cleaner but also have restored and painted original oil bath air cleaner. Carburator has been rebuilt. New thermostat. Literally everything motor and tranny related is new or rebuilt. Lots of new or repaired wiring, but if I were to keep it I would go ahead and put a new wiring harness in it. New throttle and choke cables, new stainless steel radiator overflow tank. The list goes on. I will update the ad as I remember things! Other mechanical: new brake master cylinder, rebuilt wheel cylinders, all new brake lines rubber and metal, new tires and wheels not too long ago, front end had new pins and adjustment/alignment not too long ago, new front shocks, new exhaust, driveshaft and everythign all inspected, lubed, and shimmed properly when motor and tranny were reinstalled. Exterior: new all four fenders, new drivers running board, reconditioned passenger running board, new rear bumper, inner fenders and upper brackets sandblasted and painted, new front and rear lower fender brackets, anywhere I removed anything I tried to replace then hardware with stainless steel if it was available, original wood bed is in tact underneath a new tongue and groove floor which I just overplayed until I got to replacing the floor. The metal trim pieces for the bed floor all need replaced, pine bedside racks with stainless hardware, new headlight buckets with new parts and gaskets and new stainless steel trim bezels, new front parking lamp assemblies with new gaskets, stainless bezels and bulbs converted to double contact bulbs so the turn signals are in the parking lamps as well. New chrome rear bumper and bolts, new rear turn signals, front bumper has new grade-8 bolts. Exhaust is fairly new, new lug nuts, valve stem caps and center caps. New stainless steel tailgate chains. The fenders are in enamel primer and the running boards are gloss black. Ready to be disassembled for an easy full restore. The grille is original however it is in very nice shape as is the front bumper. It could use a new front splast apron as the original had holes drilled in it for turn signals. The doors have no exterior rust but the inside bottoms have some minor rust easily repairable. The front cowl area has some rust that will need repair (patch panels are included) not visible when assembled, and the cab corners have some minor rust far underneath and not visibule unless you get down under the truck. Interior: Inside, I reconditioned the speedo, new rubber floor mat and underneath padding, new rubber on pedals, new headliner, Altman easy latch kit in stainless steel for the doors, new gas tank and sending unit, and a very nice new seat professionally upholstered and rebuilt, heater works well and everything else works except the gas gauge but I have a new one for it. Windshield trim has been sanded and painted to match interior with new screws, It needs custom door panels made as you cannot use original style in conjunction with the Altman Easy Latch Door Kit because there is a bolt that will rub a hole in them. I already found that out. Speedo cable is fairly new, new heater switch. Somewhere in my boxes of parts I also have new decals for the other guages and a bunch of other interior parts. The Altman Latch kit is stainless and looks awesome and as clost to original as a modern locking mechanism can. The doors open and shut nicely and smoothly. I replaced the door hinges on the driver's side with ones from a 1-ton which are the same just a little heavier. They don't sag like the originals and work very nice. I have a set for the passenger's side too but have not put them on yet. I have tons of extra parts for this truck as well. Been kind of a labor of love. Burnt out and ready for a change. I want to find someone with the money to finish it. Extra parts new and used include: full fender welt kit, door weatherstrip kit, flywheel cover, head, starter linkages, old headlight buckets and trim rings, patch panels for front cowl area on both sides where there is some rust, lots of extra stainless bolts and all of the original bolts that were able to be salvaged, fuel filters, some heater hose, original dog dish hub caps, lots of lug nuts, new tube of weatherstrip adhesive, extra set of pedals, the list goes on and on. I think I have four big boxes of extra parts in the garage for this truck. Oh, and some extra electrical like another voltage regulator and some other stuff... THIS TRUCK IS EASILY AN EVERY DAY DRIVER THE WAY IT SITS OR A SUPER EASY AND QUICK FRAME OFF FULL RESTORE IF YOU WANT TO DO THAT. I DID NOT BUY ANY CHEAP OR CRAPPY PARTS WHEN I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS TRUCK. HAVE RECIEPTS FOR MOST EVERYTHING MINUS THE SMALL STUFF (A FEW HUNDRED IN STAINLESS BOLTS, ETC) AND MAY NOT HAVE RECIEPTS FOR THE USED OR SWAP MEET STUFF THAT I BOUGHT AND RECONDITIONED. I CANT THINK OF MUCH ON THIS TRUCK THAT IS NOT NEW OR REBUILT. THERE WILL BE SOME EXTRA JACKS, FOUR WAY AND ONE WAY LUG WRENCHES AND OTHER ITEMS PERIOD CORRECT THAT WILL BE INCLUDED. THIS TRUCK STARTS, RUNS, AND DRIVES NICELY. SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY WITH FINANCING ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF OR CASH IN HAND. CALL 785-456-3204 WITH ANY QUESTIONS ANY TIME. CLEAR KANSAS TITLE IN HAND.The following trades will be considered: Trade for a newer harley, other harley or touring/cruiser/sport touring type bike + Cash, Nice 4x4 four wheeler + Cash, Harley or other bike plus a 4x4 four wheeler...other interesting trades considered. I forgot to mention, it is a 5-window cab and all of the glass is perfect.
