Vehicle Detail
This is a true 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 with a TH400 transmission. PHS documents included. VIN#223378U127497. I have completely disassembling the vehicle to get ready for metal work and paint. Truth is I can probably get more for it if I were to part it out, but I would like to sell as a kit since it is numbers matching and has a lot of options including power steering, power brakes, tilt wheel, AC, tinted glass with “bird etching” ,remote mirror,console,clock,TH-400 transmission and deluxe interior. It is a perfect project, as most items have been purchased and the engine and transmission have already been completely rebuilt. The body is pretty straight and was completely sanded to bare metal, inspected, and then a layer of primer was sprayed on. There are some rust in drivers floor pan, both rear lower quarters, pin hole in rear windshield, trunk pan and the tail panel was previously damaged. All metal panels are INCLUDED: drivers floor pan, both lower quarters, complete trunk pan with braces, and complete tail panel. The firewall has been smoothed and the AC and heater were deleted (was going to install a smaller unit). The engine is the NUMBERS MATCHING YT block with a date code of L017 (December 1st, 1967). It was completely rebuilt by Ed Hale racing in Lakeside. It has been cleaned, magna-fluxed, bored, de-burred, blueprinted, balanced and ring gapped. The heads are the big #16 heads (2.11/1.77) and have been machined with hardened seat and guides and lightly ported and polished. Already installed are stainless steel Manley “swirl” valves, Harland Sharp FULL roller rockers arms, Comp Cam Extreme Energy Hydraulic cam with 274/286 duration and .488/.491” lift, a Milodan Street/Strip, low profile, 7 quart oil pan, and a high pressure oil pump. Included is a set of full length Hooker Super Competition headers, tuned, and ceramic coated, and a Demon 750 CFM 4 barrel carbuerator with a manual choke. The transmission was professional built with corvette servos and a stronger truck drum with a higher stall converter (I believe it is rated at 1,800 RPM). I was told, when on the throttle, it will chirp the tires through all three gears. The sub frame was removed, de-burred and sanded, then powder coated semi-gloss black. Included are upper and lower front tubular A-arms with poly-urethane bushings and 2“ lower spring bucket, complete front power disc brake conversion kit (loaded calipers, master cylinder, booster, stock height spindle, drilled/slotted rotors, dust shields, bearing and seals, etc.), a tilt steering column (one in vehicle isn’t tilt and car is supposed to have one), clock, remote mirror, "bird etched" glass and the deluxe wood grain center console, center dash trim and ashtray. I do NOT have the paper title but it IS in my name, all fees are paid, all paper work on file, vehicle just needs to have a safety inspection performed in order to get title in hand. Included are 2 (different) California black plates. I ran the numbers through DMV and they are available. I am selling this car as a project, not 100%. I received the car running and some what complete but some things were not usuable. The metal work still needs to be done, paint and body work, front windshield is cracked and would need replaced, needs interior, some trim, an intake, front springs, etc. I have invested a lot of money and even more time and I am letting it go for a mere fraction of that cost. The body is still at a shop in California City (was going to get the metal work done) so I will pick it up if it sells. I can also deliver the body and most of the parts in the vicinity of Southern California, for a small fee. Otherwise buyer will have to arrange shipping. I have no problem helping load a container or with whatever is needed. I prefer money order, cashiers check or cash, but if PayPal is absolutely preferred let me know and I can arrange it. If you need anymore pictures or details just let me know. The wheels are 14" rally IIs and the tires are in like new condition. I will throw in the 3/4 ton engine holder. I know I said it before but the replacement panels are included which are: -both rear lower quarters -drivers floor pan -complete trunk pan -trunk floor braces -complete tail panel -tail panel brace I've added a few more pictures, CompCam cam spec card, engine balance sheet from Ed Hale, powder coated subframe, and the body plate (carefully removed so it wasn't damaged when welding/grinding) showing production date 12A (1st week of December).
