Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1970 Corvette Stingray. VIN 194370S405845 matching numbers car, 97K original miles. I'm the 4th owner and bought her 12 years ago. My hobbies have moved in a different direction in recent years, and I find the car sitting more and more. It's been in public storage for the past 2-3 years, so it will need some attention and TLC to get it back to her prime. I bought this nicely optioned L46 Stingray coupe for $22,000 12 years ago after researching corvettes and looking for over 2 years. After purchasing it, I brought it to a few shows and enjoyed it on weekends for the next 6 or 7 years. Over that time the car had regular maintenance and more. I have 10-15K in maintenance and parts receipts, and all that documentation is included. Just a few of the major repairs were new tires, brakes, drive axle, weather stripping, fixed the original factory alarm, replaced entire AC with factory correct equipment, new vacuum hoses, headlight relays. There was more done, but you get the idea. I've put about 10K miles on it over 12 years, and now sits somewhere around 97K original miles. If you know anything about these cars, then you realize the L46 350 was the middle of the road 350 from 1970, and the last year you could get the high compression motor from Chevrolet. The base 350 was rated at 300 horsepower, the L46 at 350 horsepower, and of course the high revving LT1 at 370. The L46 was a great compromise because you could still get the AC option without throwing belts all time. And the L46 is pretty snappy, with 11:1 compression and 380 on the torque meter. I made the decision to buy this particular car because it was nicely optioned, well owned, mostly original, looked great, and sounded awesome. This car is optioned as follows: L46 350/350 horse C60 Air conditioning J50 Power brakes M20 4-speed M37 Tilt/Telescopic wheel N40 Power steering PT7 White stripe tires UA6 Audio alarm system U69 AM/FM Push button radio 411 Bright blue vinyl interior 976 26 Mulsanne blue Original exhaust was replaced with the factory side pipes from 1969 (and they sound wicked nice) It was professionally done by the primary owner. This car does need some TLC and money to bring her back to life. Before putting in storage 2-3 years ago it ran great, and everything pretty much worked fine with the exception of the radio. I recently relocated to Vermont and the car is still in storage in Maryland. I checked up on it before I moved, and it wouldn't start, and is in a state of disrepair to some extent. The car was filthy as you would expect after 2 plus years, and the hood wouldn't close all the way. I imagine the battery is shot, and needs a good tune up before you could drive it. I had a compression test 5 years ago or so, and everything checked out fine. The oil pressure gauge always reads low, but that's a pretty common problem on these cars. I've never had an engine problem. The distributor points have been changed a handful of times, but probably needs it again. There is a fairly sizable crack in the fiberglass near the left headlight that extends toward the center of the front chrome bumper and needs to be addressed. The crack was there when I bought it, and has gotten worse over the years. The drives side seat is pretty shot, but not so much that you can't sit in it. I just never got around to replacing it since it didn't bother me all that much. The T-Tops work great, and I've never had a leak. The car could use a repaint, since there is quite a bit of fading and spider cracks. Cleaned up and detailed she still looks pretty sharp though from 10-20 feet away. The back deck is very faded however. Chrome and wheels are pretty solid, with the exception of the exhaust covers. They are pretty beat up, but function fine. The AC worked fine when I put her away, but doesn't blow very hard. The blower motors on these cars weren't very powerful, it's like having your modern car ac on low. It never really bothered my though because I only drove it in nice weather, and often had the t-tops off, and rear glass window out. I've trying my best to fairly represent the car, so this is being sold AS IS. It's not perfect, does need work, but is not a piece of junk. I'm not hiding anything, and willing to answer any questions you may have about the car's history. The winner of the auction will be responsible for picking it up. It's not very drivable in it's current state. It's being held in public storage in Annapolis, MD and I live in Vermont, so I won't be able to show you the car in person, but the manager of the lot will allow a visitor to view the car with my approval. Just communicate with me if you'd like to do that, and I'll let the guy know. My name is Greg and my phone number is 410-858-7038. I'll answer any questions that you may have. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the purchase, and the balance 3 days after that. Once the auction winner's funds have cleared, I'll sign over the title, forward 2-3 folders worth of documentation and work with you to arrange shipping and pick up. The buyer is fully responsible for shipping and/or pickup costs. I don't know why the shipping says it's free because it's not:-)) I've only sold one other car on EBAY so a lot of this is new to me. I reserve the right to end the auction early as I may find a buyer off line or locally.
