Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 extended cab long bed. Some of the features it includes are power windows and locks, automatic transmission, and 4 wheel drive. It also has a CD player and FM/AM radio. I bought this truck from its original Texas owner in the summer of 2010 and have enjoyed it ever since. I am selling it because I have no practical use for a big truck like this. The 12v Cummins engine is a powerhouse. The truck gets just over 15 mpg with city driving, and 19 mpg with highway driving. The truck is turned up, just a little, from the original factory settings. The factory hx-35 turbo, which was new when the engine was put it, hits a full 30 psi at peak boost. It probably make around 300 HP and 600 Ft Lbs, though I have not put it on a dyno. It will blow black smoke when you get on it, but not excessively. This truck also has a boost, trans temp, and exhaust temp gauge installed on the driver's side column. The previous owner also installed a heavy duty rear bumper on the truck and sprayed some Rhino Liner in the bed. The truck has miles 272,xxx on it. The engine has 37,xxx miles, and the transmission has 8,xxx miles since the rebuild. The man I bought it from acquired an engine from a delivery truck company that was selling extra engines that they didn't use. After the previous owner got this engine, he installed ARP head studs and then put that engine in the truck. Last year I had the transmission rebuilt and have the receipt for it. The rebuild included a billet torque converter, a must have for a diesel engine. I have changed the fluids of the truck in accordance with their recommended intervals. The paint is in good condition, especially for a truck that is 15 years old, and the body is in great condition. The engine is super crisp, as a properly tuned 12v Cummins should be, and the transmission shifts smoothly. The interior is also in good condition, and the dash has no cracks. The truck has no leaks. I have some receipts for some of the recent work done to the truck, including the transmission rebuild, new tires, and new steering components. Currently, the transmission fluid has 8,xxx miles since its last change and the engine oil/filter change is completely fresh. I use 15w40 Royal Purple synthetic oil, and it lasts quite awhile. Here is a list of the parts I have installed on the truck since I bought it and how long they have been on the truck in regards to mileage: 20,000 miles ago-5" turbo back straight exhaust with dual flat black Aussie 6" tips 20,000 miles ago-Delta bed box and K&N intake install 12,000 miles ago-Front door speakers upgrade 12,000 miles ago-Front wheel hub bearing assemblies, rotors, brake pads, and both engine batteries replacement 8,000 miles ago-Headlights, tail lights, and 3rd brake light upgrade 8,000 miles ago-Heavy duty front bumper install, in addition to 4 new Bilstein 5100 series shocks, front 2.5" leveling progressive coil springs, Rough Country front steering stabilizer, steering box stabilizer bar, and front end ball joints installed 8,000 miles ago-New power steering pump install and transmission rebuild, including a billet torque converter Less than 100 miles ago- New interior carpet Less than 100 miles ago- Most recent oil and oil filter change Less than 100 miles ago- New Falken All Terrain nitrogen filled tires installed and front end is aligned, along with a new track bar and tie rod ends installed Less than 100 miles ago- New steering box Less than 100 miles ago- K&N air filter cleaning Other: -The front windshield has a crack in it, shown in the pictures below, and it has been there since I bought it. In the time that I have owned it, it has not spread. -There is some mismatched paint on the tailgate under the "4x4" badge. I'm not sure why it's there. I just put a bumper sticker over it. The paint on the rest of the truck looks great. -The fuel gauge acts up sometimes. The issue is the fuel sending unit, which is in the fuel tank. Based on what I've read in the forums, this isn't a very difficult task. I just don't have time, or the place, to fix it. Overall, it doesn't really affect your ability to accurately estimate your fuel level. Sometimes the gauge just drops to zero, other times it gives an accurate reading. Again, it isn't really a huge issue. I know how many miles to drive in between fill ups, 375 miles with street driving, and 450-500 miles with highway driving. This truck is sold as is with no warranty, expressed or implied. I live pretty close to the San Diego International Airport. Fly in, and I'll come and pick you up! If you have any questions, send me an email. Thanks for looking!
