Vehicle Detail
Bike was restored about 10 years ago, since then has had little use. Motor is re-sleeved to make it 570 CC's . When Triumph introduced the TR5 MX in '74 they made available an upgrade kit to make it more competitive. The kit consisted of different foot peg mounts from the TR5 T, which moved the pegs back about 2 inches which also necessitated shorter brake and shift levers . They also increased the bore size to make it 570 CC's and got rid of the silly two muffler system that the bike needed to pass some kind of dumb import law at the time and replaced it with the early style reverse megaphone. At any rate, this bike has had those changes which make it a much more fun bike to ride. The power is fantastic, the handling is really great and it makes the bike much better balanced , in fact it wheelies quite well with just power , not even trying. In addition to the previously mentioned upgrades the bike has a few other changes. They are ; A Mikuni carb, aluminum rims on original conical hubs, Mega-cycle cam , titanium valve retainers, Carillo connecting rod, many parts drilled for lightness. The rear sprocket is aluminum plus drilled full of holes also larger diameter to gear it a little slower for woods riding. The front fender is aluminum as is the bracket for it. The original kickstart lever has been changed for more leg clearance but the original is still around if you must have it.. The gas tank is absolutely original , original paint (yes, you read it right) and not a ding or scratch in it. I've owned this bike for about 11 years and it is far and away the best bike I've ever had or ridden in the dirt. It is very light at about 250 lbs, very reliable, easy to start,(hot or cold), doesn't leak and looks better in real life than the pictures. It does have some very minor scratches in the frame paint and the handle bars have some minor pitting from age, but not really bad, just not ready for the concours, well you could but you might lose a couple of points. The numbers on the frame and engine do not match, apparently at some time the engine was changed, although both engine and frame are TR5 MX. Since it is a dirt bike, I do not have a title but will give you a bill of sale. Also, since it is a vintage British bike, it doesn't come with a warrantee but you won't be dissapointed with it. As far as shipping goes, I will be willing to crate it for an additional $150 and get it to a shipper in the Boston area of your choice or we can discuss any other options you wish but I'm not real keen on shipping over seas unless you can make it real easy for me to do so.. Any questions will be answered promptly, thank you for checking it out
