Vehicle Detail
This is a nice Blue 1st gen Insight with only 64,000 miles. This is the 5 speed version with a/c so is the top mileage car of all hybrids, even the current ones. This car can get 70 miles per gallon if driven efficiently. I've been able to acheive 61 miles per gallon which is just amazing. There are no rips in the seats and overall the car is nice. I don't smoke. I also don't eat while driving so the interior is clean. There are no accidents and the car has a clean title. There are a few scratches and dings but nothing above and beyond normal wear. I have just bought 4 brand new tires and had the windows tinted to preserve the interior and also allow me to drive on warm days with no a/c to improve mpg when possible. It is fun to "hypermile" this car. There are plenty of tips and videos on how to do this on the internet. There is even one person on the internet who achieved 108 miles per gallon. These cars rise in value about $500 per year as gas prices go up. After you buy it you will most likely never sell. This car is much better than any Prius. I find it odd that Prius owners usually never drive more than themseles. They have 3 more seats that never get used that they are paying gas to cart around. I'd rather get 20 miles more per gallon than the 4 door Prius with this 2 door Insight. The Insight is lite as it is made of aluminum. It only weighs 1800 pounds which is 1/2 what a Prius ways. You will love it. No other hybrid will beat this gas mileage past or present. The gen 1 insight is still the king. Here is the proof: http://www.motherearthnews.com/green-transportation/miles-per-gallon-cars-zb0z11zblon.aspx Here is a MotorTrend article about a 1st Gen Homecoming which was fun to attend: http://wot.motortrend.com/honda-hosts-earth-day-event-firstgen-insight-homecoming-in-california-4733.html#axzz2RhRILpmq As a side note if the battery ever gave out on this car (which is still under warranty through Honda) you just switch it off and continue driving. You can still get 40 miles per gallon without the hybrid battery. With a Prius if the battery goes out you are stuck wherever that happens. This might really stink if you are on a long road trip. I included a photo of the tint so you can see it is not as dark as it looks in the photos. I can always remove the tint if you prefer the car without it but I feel it will extend the life of the interior which is currently almost new looking. I also included a photo of the battery (to the right side of the photo) to show you what it looks like. Most people have never seen it. It is very small, about 1/3 of the Prius size and it only weighs 70 pounds. If you like this car just "buy-it-now". It will be a collector's item soon but will still be a daily driver. I just get a sense of satisfaction as I drive down the road knowing I get better gas mileage than 100% of everyone else driving next to me. The only car that beats it is the Chevy Volt but that is a $50,000 car, yikes! I also love this color. Blue is the best in my opinion because Red is too flashy and also is the #1 color to get speeding tickets. Silver is so common in all cars but especially with the 1st Gen Insight. Citrus (or yellow as some say) although rare is rare for a reason as it is not a very desirable color. Those were the 4 colors the 1st Gen Insights were available in. Lastly, if you need help with delivery I can possibly drive it to you depending on how far away you live. I will carry car insurance for the trip but you need to pay for the car before I leave. I can also pick you up at LAX, John Wayne SNA, or Ontario International airports if you want to fly to Southern California and you can drive home. It would make a nice road trip/vacation. At an average of lets say 55+ miles per gallon you can literally drive to Florida for $220 in gas. You can fly to me for less than $100 if you book a few weeks out. Please email me through Ebay if you have any ?'s at all. I will lower my price by $100 each day until the auction ends to make it more tempting to buy. Just a few weeks ago a Blue 2005 with 51,000 miles sold for $10,100 so I feel my price is fair as an 04 w/64,000. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NO-RESERVE-RARE-LOW-MILEAGE-ONE-OWNER-5-SPEED-MANUAL-2005-HONDA-INSIGHT-HYBRID-/161007789176?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item257ccfe478
