Vehicle Detail

1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with 74,000 original miles. The car is black with a very nice black interior. The paint on the car is driver quality (looks good at 20 feet) but would need a repaint to be really nice. The car shows no rust on the outer body and the undercarriage is very solid with only minor surface rust (no rot). The paint has some cracking from age and it was touched up on the passenger rear quarter panel. The right front corner of the bumper cover appears to show light cracking in the paint on the corner (the area the size of a quarter). The right rear taillight lens has a small crack. The interior is very nice with the exception of a few cracks in the plastic insert around the shifter and the top edge of the dash pad is showing some warping. The 350 engine runs and sounds good, but could probably use a set of spark plugs and wires. The engine does not smoke or make noise and does not leave any puddles when parked. The automatic transmission shifts well and also does not leak. There is a small exhaust leak and one tailpipe is rubbing the frame and vibrates a little. The car is equipped with factory AC (which needs charged), a working rear defrost, factory tachometer, and factory AM/FM radio. The spare tire is missing. The car drives nice but the tires are dry rotted and cracked from age. With new tires and a tune up, I would not be afraid to drive the car anywhere. This car is a perfect candidate for an easy restoration or put on tires, give it a tune up, and drive it as is. I have given an honest description of the car because I would rather the winning bidder be satisfied than find issues with the car after the auction ends. This is a great car at a modest reserve. The second generation Camaros are starting to climb in price so grab this one while prices are still within reason! The buyer is responsible for shipping. Good luck.On Apr-24-13 at 20:51:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had some common questions that I thought I would address to anyone looking at the car. The car was z-barted (undercoated) when new. It belongs to a friend of mine who has owned the car for about five years. She traded her husband's Model T for it after he had passed away.It was a local car since new. Some of the original paperwork is included (see picture). The engine appears to be original and the car is basically unmolested. The only body repairs that are obvious to me is the dent repair to the passenger rear quarter and possibly the very bottom rear corners of the front fenders. Also, the stainless window trim that was painted satin black is peeling. On Apr-25-13 at 19:02:29 PDT, seller added the following information: The casting number on the block is 3970010 which is correct for a 1978 350 engine.
