Vehicle Detail
0 to 60 in 8.7 seconds. One of the lightest cars ever made at 1,367-1,653 pounds. 3 unashamed cylinders, 1 explosive liter engine, 70 roaring horses, 107 foot-pounds of vicious torque, in 5 speeds. and a secret weapon. Introducing the rare and the classic, 1987 Chevy Sprint. With Turbo. Only 19% of Chevy Sprints imported in 1987 were turbo-charged, making this cherished model even rarer than it's non-turbocharged counterpart. Chevrolet imported the Suzuki Cultus and rebranded it as a Chevy Sprint. The Japanese Suzuki badges are still on the car. This, is your black horse. This, is your sleeper. This is your enigma. In a world dominated by sameness, this is different. Like a true sophisticated gentleman with two sides: refined and sensible, yet strong, full-laden, and fast when it needs to be. Whether you build her from the ground up to be a racecar, or your beloved sweetheart whom you spend everyday with, this car will truly charm and delight you. Originally EPA rated at 37 City, 39 Combined, and 43 Highway, now rated at 31 City, 34 Combined, and 39 Highway. An estimated savings of $6,000 over five years based on 50% highway and city driving, with 20,000 annual miles. It will pay for itself many times over in free gas, like solar power. The last of a dying breed, just waiting- for the right driver to take her home. Here is my fuel log with this car: http://ecomodder.com/forum/em-fuel-log.php?vehicleid=7434My best trip was at least 52 miles a gallon. I believe it may have been 57, and with a few eco-modifications, this car could break some records I'm sure of it. It is all, and I mean it is all in the way you drive. Hitting the throttle and turbo, I've gotten 37 mpg. Driving smart, using fuel efficient driving techniques, I average 46 mpg city and hwy combined. Summed up: light acceleration, 25 mph in 5th gear, coasting to red lights, engine off at long lights, driving without turning the turbo light on, and not going 100 mph on the highway. Driving efficiently would save even more money. It's like having a car for free, with free gas, that pays for itself. This car was also known as and branded at different times and in different countries as: Suzuki CultusSuzuki SA-310/SA-413Suzuki SwiftSuzuki KhyberSuzuki ForsaHolden BarinaChevrolet Sprint/Sprint MetroPontiac FireflyIsuzu Geminett (JDM) Later generations were also known as: Geo MetroMaruti Suzuki 1000Maruti Suzuki EsteemSubaru JustyChang'an Suzuki Lingyang -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Cultus Based on it's rarity, it's estimated incredibly low mileage of 113,000 miles, it's incredible fuel economy that will pay for itself many times over, with the engine, transmission, and turbo running absolutely excellently, this rare classic breed is worth it's weight in gold. But the car is in below average cosmetic condition, mostly just cosmetic interior defects. I would rate the interior a 3 or 4 out of 10, and the exterior a 6 or 7 out of 10. It's missing carpet and the center box compartments and a lot of the plastic interior is cracked, which I've heard is quite common. I don't mind it in the least bit. You could put the front seat covers in the laundry. So this car will be up for auction at a very low reserve because of the simple cosmetic defects, just to make sure it doesn't slip by and sell for $200, lol, so that's one reason to have a reserve. Hey, it happens. Two Chevy Sprint Turbos sold on Ebay for around $3,800 each on March 31, 2013. And another one reached $3,800 at auction as well on 4/21/13. This car has flip potential as well, if you fixed it up you could resell it at a profit. I would do this myself with joy, to increase the value of the car, if only if only if only I had the money. I'm just hoping the tools I buy from the money I make from this car will help me make money in the automotive industry. Help fuel my dream and my future. I'd be happy to ship this car to you, but you'll have to take care of all the arrangements with the shipping company of your choice. Oil, transmission oil, a radiator flush, spark plugs, battery, alternator, alternator belt, and air filter were all done in April 2013. 12" tires are very new. If you look at the fuel log, I believe the new spark plugs and transmission oil made some difference. When I think about it, the smog report had HCs/Hydrocarbons at about 100ppm, which is a touch high, which means there was not a perfect burn and thus fuel economy could suffer. The spark plugs that were in the car were not the proper ones, and they seemed due. With the correct OEM plugs installed, I believe the burn is more perfect, helping increase fuel economy. The car was recently smog checked, so if it's purchased within 90 days of it's smog date, which was just a few weeks ago, it will be legal and not have to be smogged again in the state of California. I have fallen in love with this car, and I am afraid that I will regret selling it. I need the money more than anything. It destroys me. And the only thing that comforts me is that hopefully one I'll be able to buy another one of these, or perhaps one of it's many re-badged offspring, under many different names as you've seen. I'll be out of school in a few weeks, and need money to buy tools and put a deposit down on a place. I'm going to be a mechanic. I wish I could put more money into this car right now, just for my own personal satisfaction. Like when you see something out of place you just need to fix it, or take some lint off a person's shirt. I want to do more things for her, but I am a broke, broke college student. But I had to change the transmission oil, because I couldn't not do it. It's like if you put cake mix in front of a baker, a cake is going to happen. I could have kept it with the old oil and it probably would have been fine. But I couldn't do that to my sweetheart. When that oil came out, I think it was due, and I believe that made some difference in fuel economy as well, with slippage and viscosity. If the oil was the wrong viscosity for instance, it would have added extra drag and reduced fuel economy. Hence why so many car manufacturers today are going with 0W-20 and 5W-20 oil. But I am rambling as I always do. Take good care of her. Cherish her. Keep a fuel log for her. Give her some BG 44K or Amsoil PI as a treat every once in a while. Maybe give her the aeromods she deserves. Call a locksmith and give her glovebox a new lock and key. Her driver's door can't be unlocked from the outside, so I unlock the passenger and open it like that. I've gotten used to that and have no problem with it. I'm sure it's an easy fix. The way you lock the driver's door is to keep the latch open as you close it. Give her full synthetic oil, and a good oil filter. I recommend AMSOIL, Pennzoil Ultra, and Castrol Edge w/ Titanium. Synthetic oils withstand higher temperatures, and that's especially important with a turbocharger. Remember to check her oil, and check her transmission oil every oil change or so, just to be sure. It's a black plastic screw cap and dipstick under the intercooler and battery, on the transaxle. When you've completely unscrewed it, you just dip it in to check the oil, that's the proper way to check. Treat her kind, and with love and tenderness. I am so lonely, and she has been my only friend. She's priceless and one of a kind as far as I'm concerned. So few of these are left. Some say it's a future classic, but it is already a classic. It is the grandfather of the 3-cylinder engine cars. It is a piece of history. And it'll only become rarer and increase in value. In a world where gas costs $4 a gallon, and is only a hair's breadth away from an economic or military conflict that could send the price skyrocketing, the 3 cylinder reigns supreme. Costing tens of thousands less than an expensive hybrid, and so much cheaper to service and repair, the Sprint Turbo is not only a powerhouse of speed- it is an economic workhorse with peace of mind. Make one of the smartest decisions you will ever make- and one of the most fun. (Did I mention 0-60 in 8.7 seconds?) Auction ends on Monday, April 29, 2013 at approximately 6:55 pm, so set your times, and good luck. On Apr-23-13 at 21:56:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Passed smog on March 28, 2013, just a month ago. If the car is transferred within 90 days of that date, you do not have to smog the car again. Then you won't have to worry about it for another two years. And I'm super confident in this car passing smog forever. Numbers are really good. You can check the free car history report included in the listing for the smog history, or you can enter the license plate number: 6WVZ248, or the VIN number into the CA BAR website to check: http://www.bar.ca.gov/pubwebquery/vehicle/pubtstqry.aspx
