Vehicle Detail
1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible, 400, automatic, power steering, air conditioning, hood tachometer, original keys, the mileage is showing 45,950 but will be sold as unknown. This is not an expensive show car, this is a DRIVER that I purchased 10 years ago that I have enjoyed going to car shows in. This is a matching number car that was sold new in Alabama and I am the third owner. You will not find a better body on a driver car. This car has never seen salt. I am getting to a time in my life that makes it practical to sell my Firebird. I am getting to the point I can no longer work on it. This is the first time I have had the manual convertible top up. I drove it today and it has a small exhaust leak on the passenger side exhaust manifold, the belt is off of the air conditioning compressor but all the parts are there. The brake lights stay on all the time, I am guessing that the brake light switch has gone bad. When I drove it today, I did notice that the brakes were a little mushy, so I would trailer it home. The radio does not work. Sometimes the hood tachometer works and sometimes it doesn't work. I had it professionally rebuilt. The air cleaner is an aftermarket. The engine compartment needs to be detailed. The rear wing was installed as a dealer option when it was new. The paint is three years old and the interior is original except I had the seats recovered. This is not some car that has been messed up, it is all there and like it came from the factory. Since I know the car, I would not be afraid to take it on a long distance trip tomorrow, but like all things that are mechanical and electrical, it might not make it out of town. Since I have owned the car it has never seen rain or nighttime driving. It is kept under cover in a climate controlled building. If you want a convertible to enjoy driving, then this is the car for you. I will gladly answer your questions to the best of my ability, but please do not ask questions like it is a high dollar show car. I have little patience for folks that think they are going to get something for nothing. I have the car for sale because it is the thing to do, not because I need the money. It is best now to let someone else enjoy it. The reserve price is reasonable based on the fact it is a good solid driver for a 44 years old car. Thank you for considering my Firebird. I hope it goes to a good home. Buyer is responsible for making all transportation plans and payments. I will help all that I can on loading the vehicle. A $500.00 deposit by pay pal is due within 24 hours of the auction closing. The remainder is due within 7 days by cash or bank direct deposit. Alabama does not have titles for vehicles until 1975; I will provide a notarized Bill Of Sale and Tag Registration to the buyer. In Alabama, the antique tag does not go with the car. Check your state requirements before you bid. On Apr-17-13 at 05:08:09 PDT, seller added the following information:I forgot an item, the car has always started with the shifter in the position of between neutral and reverse since I have owned it. It is probably a shifter adjustment. On Apr-17-13 at 06:56:39 PDT, seller added the following information:I am traveling but if it would help the VIN number is 223679NxxxxxxOn Apr-21-13 at 16:32:46 PDT, seller added the following information:I added a picture of the cowl tag.On Apr-22-13 at 08:03:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I do not want to sound negative but if you do not have the money or do not have your wife's permission to buy this car, PLEASE do not bid. When you buy it, I expect the deal to be completed as big boys. The tire kicking and negotiations are over. If I misrepresented the car leave it with me but otherwise it is yours. I thank everybody's interest but my tolerance level for dreamers asking questions like this is a $50K car are wearing thin. This is a very nice DRIVER that will not be perfect and will need some minor repairs as I have stated in the description. The car has been in my warehouse every since I have owned it and probably driven less than 100 miles per year to local car shows. I will put a new battery in it when it is shipped or picked up. If it is shipped, I will disconnect the battery because of the brake lights staying on. I appreciate your bids but be realistic and make this a pleasant experience for both of us.
