Vehicle Detail
2001 FORD F350 LARIAT 4X4 EXTENDED CAB, 7.3 DIESEL ENGINE, 72,000 MILES Hello, I am a consulting engineer by day and by night, I find and sell Ford F250, F350, and Excursion trucks with the 7.3 diesel engine. I do this to help offset my kids schooling costs and I love these trucks! I only deal with the high end trucks that are in outstanding condition which have less than 100,000 miles. My trucks have been sold to clients all over the United States and Alaska. When I evaluate a truck for purchase, I conduct an interview about the vehicle history and obtain receipts for work performed, complete a comprehensive inspection of the mechanical and cosmetic condition of the truck, observe how the owner takes care of his other vehicles, house, yard, and so on. I believe that if a person is a neat person that takes care of his personal property, it speaks volumes on how he has taken care of the truck I am looking at. This truck was custom ordered and built for hauling a 5th wheel travel trailer. It was ordered as a Lariat Cab and Chassis 4X4 and then the owner had a very heavy duty custom service bed installed that was built by Oregon Metalcraft. Before the service bed was installed, a heavy duty frame was attached to the chassis to support the fifth wheel hitch. The service bed was installed and then a fifth wheel hitch was mounted. An exhaust brake was also installed at that time. The lockable service bed made it ideal for storing his generator, small freezer, and other items that made traveling much more comfortable. I bought this truck from the 2rd owner who was selling it due to health issues. I performed a thorough evaluation which included interviewing the 2nd owner who was able to tell me about the details of the first owner. This truck is in outstanding condition and has not been driven in salt. I have included an outline of the ownership and work performed on this truck. · First owner custom ordered the truck as a Lariat Extended Cab and Chassis 4X4 from the Ford dealer in Rogue River, OR on September 15, 2000 with 17 miles on it.· The truck was then outfitted with an Oregon Metalcraft heavy duty custom 9 foot service bed with a heavy duty steel subassembly attached to truck frame and then a fifth wheel hitch assembly installed.· An exhaust brake was also installed during that time.· The owner backed into another vehicle on July 3, 2003 and the heavy duty rear bumper was dented as noted on the Carfax.· First owner used the truck to pull his custom built travel trailer for 9 years (57,603 miles) until his health failed so he sold the truck.· The second owner from Grants Pass, Oregon purchased it on December 4, 2009 (57,603 miles) to pull his fifth wheel travel trailer.· A Transgo Tugger kit and converter lock up valve was installed on September 9, 2010 at 63,943 miles.· A Hypertech Programmer was installed in Grants Pass, Oregon on January 13, 2011 at around 66,000 miles.· Owners moved from Oregon to Branson, Missouri in February of 2011.· Front brake pads installed and rotors machined on March 9, 2011 in Ozark, Missouri at 68,947 miles.· Owners sold the truck to me due to failing health.· I purchased the truck in February 2013 with 71,402 miles. During my pre-purchase inspection I noted the following:o Tires at 9/32 tread depth (new is 10/32).o Right front tie rod end had excess motion.o Upper and lower ball joints due for replacement.o Transmission shifted in an unusual manner.o Rear bumper had a dent. (From first owner backing into another vehicle)o Rear tailgate had a dent. (From first owner forgetting to lower tailgate when hooking up trailer.)o Emergency brake needed adjustment.o Slight exhaust leakage from “Y” pipe doughnuts.o Marks on top front of service bed where air dam frame was bolted down. You can see an “L” shape foot print where the frame assembly bolted to the service bed.o CB antenna not present but had been mounted on cab of truck.o Front and rear differential ratio is 4:10 to 1.o 4X4 transfer case manual floor shift. (very reliable)o Prodigy brake controller installed.o Fifth wheel hitch removed.o No rips or tears in leather seats.o Rear seats look “In New” condition.o No oil leakage from engine or transmission.o No rust in usual locations at bottom of doors under sealing strip. (very rare)o Very, very clean underneath with minimal signs of rust anywhere. (one of the cleanest trucks in regards to rust I have seen) · I had the following work performed by a Ford certified Powerstroke specialist which brings this truck back to better than new condition. o Upper and lower ball joints replaced.o Right steering tie rod end replaced.o Front end alignment performed.o New rear emergency brake slack adjusters installed and parking brake adjusted.o New exhaust “Y” pipe doughnuts installed.o New 4 inch exhaust installed from Turbo to rear of truck.o Chrome exhaust tip installed.o Transmission evaluation performed and discovered that the Tugger kit was installed wrong, therefore I had the transmission removed and overhauled with aftermarket heavy duty “Suncoast” parts.o Since the transmission was removed I had a new heavy duty “Suncoast” torque converter installed.o Engine oil and filter changed.o All fluids checked and topped off as necessary. · I had the following worked performed by a local body shop that specializes in classic car restoration.o Dent removed from rear bumper. Repainted rear bumper.o Dent removed from tailgate. Repainted tailgate. This truck is custom built for traveling in comfort. Mechanically and cosmetically, it is in top notch condition. I would be glad to answer any questions or do a walk around inspection with anyone who is interested. I have the truck listed locally for $24,990. Thanks for your interest! Myron; 816-769-4686
