Terry Horler in his book " The Original Sprite and Midget" said " One of the most surprising cars featured in this book is the 1962 Sprite MKII..." " its startling Deep Pink paint, a factory colour was chosen by so few customers that this surviving car may well be unique." It may well be unique- but it is not the only one as here is another in RD18 Deep Pink. This color combination for an Austin Healey is indeed very rare and perhaps the rarest Austin Healey produced with as little as 50 cars produced in this color. Perhaps even less. The British Motor Heritage was unable to tell me how many of these cars were produced. I have only seen 4 of these cars in this color in the last 20 years. 50 cars makes this just as rare as the 1955 Austin-Healey 100S! This Sprite is in good shape with no rust in the body at all. There are no holes, no patches and it has never had any major body work done to it. It is a solid example and well worth saving in the actual Deep Pink color. Not everyone's cup of tea yet worth saving in its original color. There are a sea of British Racing Green, Red and Silver cars out there but none as rare as this. The car was painted at one time but was painted in the original color. There are scratches, the paint is worn away under the headlights and the front bumper was pushed in at one time. There is a small dent in the drivers door. Originally a 948 cc car , it now features a 1275 and ribcase trans and will need the finishing touches to put this car back together. I am unsure of the condition of the 1275 and trans as it is an untested unit. It will need a full going through before this car is running again as it is not currently running. You will need to have this car trailered when you pick it up. As well, the prop shaft is not in place so it will not stay put when placed in gear. I also have the brake box that you may notice is missing in the photos. The tonneau is included but there is no top for the car. The bow is in the car for the car when a new top is fitted. The original interior remains intact and there are also remains of the now rare original vinyl flooring and trans cover. Contact me for further questions.
