Vehicle Detail
Thanks for taking the time to view my listing. I'd love to keep this car but the reality is that I just have too many projects. I bought this car as a track car project and have put a ton of work into it. This car has never been hacked up or modified and would make a fun weekend/track day car or with a few weekends of work could be a very nice example of a CSX-T. It's number 437/1000 of this very rare series made by Shelby for Thrifty rental cars. Overall condition is very nice for an '88 and the car is still quick by modern standards. Back in the day the quoted a 0-60 time of 6.9s thanks to the 175hp 2.2 turbo motor and lightweight chassis. It's a great handling car with stiffer suspension than the normal Shadow turbo. This car is a hoot to drive and still makes great power and handles very well. I am going to be very honest about the pluses and minuses of this car and will answer any questions about it to the best of my ability. Exterior:The good:As the title says, the body is very straight. There is no rust at all. Straighter and more solid Shadow/CSX cars would be very hard to come by.This car has been in the South its entire life and it shows outside and underneathThe car has had a respray several years ago and save for a few scratches, the paint is in very nice shape. The panel gaps are great and all the mounts are straight, I don't think it has ever had a major repair as far as I can tell Brand new, correct CSX-T decalsNew hatch strutsCorrect muffler and twin tailpipes!Needs work:Shelby badge in the back is missingA couple scratches here and there (shown in photos)Loose trim on the passenger side (just needs a clip)Paint chipping on door handlesAmateur hour pinstripe application (my doing)There is a slight amount of orange peel in a couple of places but it's not a bad paint job. There is some overspray on the fender liners and around the door frame that I have not had time to remove and a couple inaccessible places - for example on the back edge on the underside of the hood - where the new paint was not applied. These spots are all shown in the photos.Tint bubble on the driver's window2 missing center caps (I've heard that these are around $30 from Dodge)InteriorThe good:Interior is in overall great shape. Not sunbaked, no brittle plastic. Nothing a trip to the junkyard couldn't fix.Dash is perfect.Seats in great shape other than one small hole in the driver's seat and a cig burn in the back left seat. They are still supportive and comfortable.Carpet in very good shapeOther than the missing button detailed below, all of the hard-to-find Shelby stuff is intact.Needs work:The major thing is that it needs a headliner and domelight needs to be mounted2 small torn spots in interior visible in photosShelby button missing from the shift knob. Console cover missing too.Handles for fold down rear seats are busted. The seat can still be folded down.Fuel gauge is not trustworthy. This is an intermittent issue with the sender. The radio does not workThe wood spare tire well cover is wavyMechanical:The good:Recently rebuilt cylinder headNew rear shocksNew master cylinderNew ASD relayNew fuel tankNew fuel pumpNew fuel filterNew ignition moduleNew plugs, cap, and rotorPlenty of life in clutch, doesn't grind any gears no matter whatBoosts up to 12psi, turbo is quick to spool and the makes great power.Doesn't seem to leak, no smoke at allNeeds work:Needs A/C compressor to have A/CNeeds tires - ones on it are very dry rotted. I don't want to replace them before sale as I don't know if you'll keep these wheels.Small exhaust leak before cat.Small vacuum leak in climate control switch causes the check engine light to come on sometimes. Thanks!-MattOn Apr-05-13 at 18:41:16 PDT, seller added the following information: I got a couple of questions in my inbox. Here are the answers: Q: Do the sideskirts come with the car?A: No, didn't realize they were missing. Q: Is this a Turbo II or Turbo IA: I believe that this is a Turbo I Q: Are there any oil leaks at all?A: I poked around and there is one small one on the back side of the valve cover. The is an issue I failed to mention - the dash lights are not working. I didn't notice this until I took it for a spin last night. Going to work on fixing it tonight. Please let me know if you have any questions before bidding. Thanks and good luck!
