HERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A RARE MODEL WITH LIMITED PRODUCTION - The 1997 Toyota 40th Anniversary FZJ-80 Collector's Edition Landcruiser Some History: The 1997 FZJ-80 Collectors Edition Toyota Landcruiser was a limited production run of J 80's built specifically for Collectors in 1997 during Toyota's 40th Anniversary. This model year sported Collectors Edition badging, "Collector's Edition" embroidered floor mats, automatic climate control, windows tinted dark grey and special grey side moldings,black pearl badging, center differential lock, four disc brakes including four ventilated discs, limited slip differential, key less entry,roof racks and running boards. The Collectors Edition was only available for the 1997 model year. Toyota Landcruiser aficionados are well aware of the world renown Landcruisers reliability,longevity and off road capabilities. Making the Landcruiser one of the most sought after SUV's world-wide. Most J-80 Landcruisers are exported to the Australia Outback, Africa, and the Middle East. Countries with the worlds harshest terrains where they have been extensively tested by Toyota. The Scoop: Ok, Michigan may not be considered one of the worlds harshest terrains. However, tell that to someone who's driven through Lake effect blizzards, and on a regular basis at that. After years of winter driving, getting stuck, slipping and sliding, I wanted a safe reliable, indestructible snow beast. After hearing high praises of this road warrior by owners and car collectors we searched far and wide until we came across this beauty in our own back yard. We purchased this Collectors Landcruiser in 2004 in South Bend IN with only 75,000 miles on it. The owner had it under two years, garaged and meticulously cared for it, sold it to buy a brand new LC and moved to Colorado, off roading heaven.The lucky original owner from New Hampshire ordered this custom Collectors Edition Landcruiser with all the options as listed. It has not been modified in anyway. This Landcruiser, has been garaged most of it's life, as evidenced by the still vibrant metallic pearl paint finish and clear coat (see roof photo). Driven gently as a prestigious SUV by first two owners who did not drive it as a primary vehicle with No Off roading and only putting on about 11,000 per year. This has been my dreammobile, and it's with great reluctance that I'm putting it up for sale. Only because our family has expanded with grand kids now and we need a larger family vehicle. We've owned this gem for bout 9 years putting on only 10,000 miles annually as a third vehicle. This special Landcruiser received the respect it deserves. No Abuse; never has been smoked in, gently driven, no off roading, kids. Yes, it uses gas, but more than makes up for it by lack of repairs,Toyota's tribute to durability. The Interior Details: This solid 4 door Collectors Edition FZJ-80 is loaded with all options. Seats 7 and includes the optional 3rd row seats. The 3rd row seats were rarely used and stored for the last 5 years. All leather seating, dash, doors is in amazing good condition, as shown in photos. Leather has been conditioned regularly and is great in shape, no rips, tears or severe cracks. Some light wear in drivers seat as expected with it's 16 years. The interior is fabulous, all parts intact and working as should be. No missing anything. All lights, gauges, clock, knobs, handles, mirrors, headrests, seat belts accounted for.The ceiling fabric is tight, clean no rips or tears. The carpeting is in good condition, intact some wear as expected, has no rips,tears,holes, major stains. All power buttons work; antennae, doors, seats, child window locks, the drivers window is a bit slow. Controls and gauges all work, turn signals, emergency button, cruise control, wipers, headlights, fuel gauges, moon roof. Yes, there are some issues, which never bothered us as we drove this Landcruiser very little and considering it's 16 years. The handbrake doesn't work nor the AC. There are tons of close up pictures, happy to take whatever picture you may need, answer any questions. Exterior Mechanical Details: This Landcruiser is solid and strong. This road warrior drives and handles great in all weather conditions. With only 185 K miles on it, there are many hundred of thousands of miles of life left. As you Landcruiser owners and collectors well know, these vehicles go on forever.There are some challenges as would be expected in a vehicle with 16 years. We considered taking care of some of them before selling. However felt this gem did not deserve a local patch job and have left this to the Buyer. There are some rust spots on hood, lift gate and a small spot on drivers side as shown on photos. All exterior parts are present and in good condition. However, I removed the optional original running boards due to sagging and wear. I left the boots and braces on as I had/have intentions of replacing the running boards. If I'm able to find appropriate OEM Landcruiser running boards before auction ends, they will be included. This Collectors Edition Landcruiser is not a rust bucket. The metallic pearl paint finish with a clear coat is in good shape all around, including the roof. It's shiny, bright with no fading or peeling, most likely due to being garaged most of it's life. There are some minor owies on drivers side due to my wifes lack of peripheral vision: Front drivers side bumper is scraped, where she came a little to close to pole pulling out of the garage. Not too noticeable from distance (see close up photo). As shown in photos on drivers side, rear quarter panel has some dents, where a damm wood post squeezed past me in snow storm. Have been told they could probably be pulled out (paintless dent removal folks). The custom tinted glass is in great shape, the glass is clear, no cracks or pitting. Heated rear window and wipers works just fine.The trailer hitch is in good solid condition, although it has some light surface rust spots. Tires fair. Mechanically sound, strong, always run. Replaced the oxygen sensor and exhaust system and have changed oil religiously. It's been a good solider, not needing much. A real joy to own and drive.
