Vehicle Detail

Hello everyone and thanks for viewing my listing. What you are seeing is a very nice highly documented 1967 Buick GS400 Convertible. This GS400 is a very special and rare car to find these days. I bought this car from a charity out in California where it has spent most of its life. This GS400 has its original drivetrain and literally runs like new. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere. It runs, drives, shifts, and brakes perfectly without any issues at all. Whoever ends up with this beautiful automobile will be a very lucky individual. I'll now begin to tell a little bit about the car and its history. I purchased this car awhile back from a charity out in California as mentioned above. From what I gathered, the owner had passed away and the family donated the GS400. The proceeds went to a childrens foundation from what I understood. I was told that it has its original drivetrain along with all original body panels. Everything I was told, appears to be exactly right. After I bought the car, I received tons of paperwork including the original owner portfolio, the owners manual, the owners protection plan with the protecto plate still attached, the convertible top operation manual, the warranty validation booklet, the accessories booklet, and several 1967 Buick original dealer advertisements. This is a highly documented all original GS400 Convertible that you can drive everyday without worry. Here is a break down of the VIN and Trim Tag: VIN: 446677B105397 4- Buick 46- GS400 67- 2 Door Convertible Body 7- Model Year 1967 B- Built in Baltimore, MD 105397- Production Number Trim Tag: 10C 394 67 44667 BAL 129 185 C1 408004 10C - Built on the Third Week of October 1966 394 - Unknown Internal Number 67- 1967 Model Year 44667 - Buick 2 Door GS400 Convertible BAL - Baltimore Assembly Plant in Maryland 129 - Fisher Body Number (very early built) 185- Interior Code for Black Vinyl Bench Seat C1- Artic White with a *white* vinyl top (note that it currently has a new black vinyl top) 408004 - Unknown Internal number Protecto Plate Decode: 29-312 - Dealership Code 10-25-6 - Sale Date - October 25th, 1966 7B105397 - Con vin decodes to 1967 Model year, Baltimore, MD, 105397 Production number 185 CC - Black vinyl bench seat interior CC- Artic White (top color was left off of protecto plate) NR103 - Engine Code for 8 cylinder 400 CID 340hp 10.25:1 Compression BA265 - Transmission code for v8 super turbine 400 transmission 84 - Options Codes 8 - Power Steering, 4 - Sonomatic Radio R - Built in October As you can see, this is a beautiful car with some wonderful options. Power Steering makes a huge difference in the heavy Buicks. I will now begin to describe the car from front to back. Exterior The exterior of this GS400 is in excellent condition and was repainted its original Artic White color a few years ago. It is superb with only a few minor issues. First minor issue is the front bumper. It looks good and is very straight, but the chrome is coming off the top portion and on the bottom left corner. It isnt terribly noticable but can be found upon close inspection of the car. The grille, hood, and fenders are original to the car and look great. The original grille has a few minor spots where the paint it peeling, but could easily be made new again. The hood is perfectly straight with no signs of rust and the hood scoops look phenomenal. The fenders are excellent with no signs of rust anywhere. The doors appear original to the car (I havent had the door panels off to verify), and they look superb. No signs of rust on the bottoms of the doors. The rockers and door jambs look great with no signs of bad body work or rust. The quarters look great and are not rusty. The deck lid/trunk looks excellent with no signs of rust. The black convertible top is new and looks great with no tears or rips. Around the front windshield looks excellent. The second minor issue is inside the trunk, but it looks excellent. It shows that it has been resprayed at some point. The spatter paint is not original, and I do not know what was done in the trunk area. I just know it looks good and doesnt appear to have been pieced together. The third and final exterior issue is the windshield. It isnt cracked, but at some point in its life, the wipers scratched the drivers side in a half moon shape. It isnt bad and doesnt really get in the way, but it is somewhat annoying seeing it there. Interior The interior on this car is all original and reflects an original 57,000 original mile car. There is some plastic chrome missing from the door panels, but all in all, it looks fantastic inside. The original floor mats still look good, the vinyl seats look superb, the dash metal looks fantastic, and so does everything else. The dash pad has a slight crack in it right in front of the steering wheel, but thats the only spot where it is cracked. The original steering wheel is cracked in several spots. Most people buy the sport wheel that came out later on the 69-72s, but I didnt want to do that. I wanted to leave it original and wait for a nice one to show up on eBay. The buttons work on the dash along with the ACC button that controls the POWER convertible top. It operates with ease by going up and down in a matter of seconds. The original radio works but is scratchy and very hard to find a working AM channel. The temp and fuel gauge work as they should along with the speedometer and odometer. All the windows roll up and down as they should. This is a very nice original interior. Engine Bay The engine bay is nice and tidy. The red paint on the engine and air cleaner look fantastic and very classy. The black paint on the firewall, fender liners, and other bits looks very good. It has an optima battery installed and what appears to be the original Harrison radiator. All in all, it looks good under the hood with no rust areas or problems. In 1967, Chevelles had their year, assembly plant, and production number stamped right on the flange on the passengers side of the block....Buicks did not get this type of stamping, so all I can go by is the casting on the block. So, it has a late 66 block (correct for an October 1966 built car), its original heads, its original intake manifold, its original exhaust manifolds, and even its original "star wars" air cleaner. It has 56,000 original miles and the engine runs perfectly. The switch pitch turbo 400 transmission is also dated late 1966 according to the plate on the side of it. It lines up with the trim tag production date as well. The rearend is also original and is a 10 bolt posi unit built in late 1966 of course. Underneath Underneath the car has not been restored, repaired, or detailed. It does need some attention underneath if this is going to be a show car where the bottom side will be on display (like a mirror underneath the car). The floors are solid, the firewall is solid, but there are a few spots that need to be addressed if youre going to make it perfect. There is a spot in the bracing in between the rocker and the floor pan just above the frame that has rust damage. It has eaten through the metal about 4 by 5 inches. This is in a spot that doesnt affect anything as far as the floor pans nor does it compromise any of the cars stability. That being the case, you could weld in some metal, or just put some sealer on it to stop it from spreading further. There is some scaling along the frame and a soft spot on the top of the rails. The frame is sturdy and would need nothing as a driver, but as a show car, you would want to restore it underneath. Now that you have read all of the good and bad, please see the pictures below. This is a very nice GS400 and I believe you will be able to appreciate it for what it is. I will show you a few of the pictures of the GS by the lake first after that, please view the thumbnails that I made for you to click to enlarge. This will reduce loading times. Please be sure to click the thumbnails to enlarge the pictures. Brace yourself, I took a lot of pictures :) Romans 10:9-10 :)
