Vehicle Detail
This is a 1972 Hornet. 67,000 original miles. Bought new in '72 by grandmother. Parked a lot of years in car port, driven in summers. About 15 years ago, uncle took it over, and kept it up, but never really drove it too much. Grandma passed away, and now uncle. So now we have this car for sale. Interior is in great condition - it has the Gucci package. Radio was replaced, and uncle put in a tachometer. Again, see pictures. Exterior is in good condition, original paint, all original chrome. Some scratches, see pictures. Engine was rebuilt when uncle took it over; not sure why. Runs fine. Weather stipping on hatch/5th door leaks a little (found this out when we washed it). We see these cars have a following, so this is a great one to take over if you collect. See the pictures for more info.On Mar-13-13 at 19:47:44 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a 1972 Hornet. 167,000 original miles. HEAR THAT, its 167,000 miles. Thought it was 67000 miles but found service records. Again, it 167000 miles. Bought new in '72 by grandmother. Parked a lot of years in car port, driven in summers. RIght front bumper has less clearance with right front headlight panel, than left side, indicating it hit something, but no visible dent anywhere. Also, steel bar under side bottom kick plates is rusted through pretty good. Body is OK under there, looks like some small rust, but the bar has caused detachment of the kick plate. On Mar-15-13 at 11:24:53 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE (from someone who inspected it): Thanks again for showing the Hornet. It's always enjoyable to see a car with family history. Not to nitpick the car, but it would be helpful to disclose a few other items regarding the condition. One would be that the headliner has been replaced. Even I didn't recognize what that was in the picture. The carpet is disintegrating in the hatch area. The overspray underneath would indicate at least some partial repainting, tho I didn't see any indication of damage other than the front fender. The drivers door is sagging quite a bit and would need the hinges rebuilt. The fuel gauge is not working properly. The power steering pump is noisy. Again, I'm not trying to critisize the condition. Hopefully it will end up in the hands of someone who can appreciate it, even if it goes beyond what we would bid. ALSO, found the orig air intake manifold, and 2 barrel carbuerator - still looking for the radio. Buyer will get it if we find it.
