Giddy Up... Giddy Up 409!! This is one gorgeous 63 Impala Super Sport 409. See this little gem was delivered to Ernie Porter Chevrolet in Pasadena, CA in 1963 and spent it’s life in Southern California. The body panels and floors are all original sheet metal to the car... and yes it shows. Just look how straight and letter-perfect the doors, the hood and the trunk align to the other body panels. This is the kind of master piece to be added to your collection. You would be hard pressed to find a more solid, original and wonderful driving vehicle than this example in Palomar Red Metallic. The body and paint are indicative of a car that had a virgin body before restoration. The original body panels are all intact on this Impala and it shows in the magnificent application of paint. This unique and interesting Palomar Red is an extremely difficult color for photography. Note in the pictures attached that in sunlight it brightens up and in low light almost takes on characteristics of black. Most of the time it looks to have a deep Maroon finish to me. Direct sunlight makes the red metallic highlights jump off the canvas. The finish on this fine specimen is two stage and is mirror-like with no dimples, ripples, waves or orange peal anywhere. If you are into laser straight original body panels, you will not find one nicer than this. This 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS Two-Door Hardtop has been given a full frame-off restoration. Everything was attended to in this type of restoration. There are good restorations and there are concour quality restorations and this one hedges most definitely toward the later. Powering this real-deal Super Sport is the now-legendary 409 cubic-inch W-series big-block V8 engine that produces 340 horsepower. The engine is mated to the famous smooth-shifting Powerglide Automatic Transmission. This baby has all the sound and performance you expect from a 60’s era Impala SS. At the top of that famous mill, a heavy duty single-snorkel air cleaner forces oxygen into a large 4-barrel carburetor. Fuel and air flow from that old school carburetor into a factory iron intake that's bordered by factory Chevrolet heads and chromed factory valve covers. And this B-Body's entire engine compartment, from its Chevy Orange paint and satin black fenders, is completely restored, detailed and ready to both show and go. Decoding this car you will see that the engine was built of February 7th at Tonawanda and the car was assembled in Los Angeles during the Third Week of February. The broach marks are clear in the engine stamping and is the original date coded engine that was manufactured and mated to this automobile at the factory. The Interior on this ageless beauty is nearly impeccable. There is zero fault anywhere from dash, to seats to headliner and a full set of the original floor mats, in amazing condition. The highest quality vinyl fabric was used in this restoration with all panels matching in color and texture. This is NOT the low quality Chinese stuff that is so popular among the low priced restoration parts houses. Look at the pictures and see for yourself the EXACTING finish to the originals gracing the dash, seating areas and door panels. I was almost fooled, thinking it was the original interior. My Uncle had one of these Impala’s when I was ten years old. I REMEMBER how that material looked and felt. This is an exact replica to what I remember during that era. The interior includes bucket seats, a Floor Console with a floor-mounted Chrome Shifter, Special SS and Door Panel Appliqués. There is also the rare factory-installed tachometer on the dash mounted front and center, for maximum visibility, monitoring the engine RPM’s through the steering wheel. And just in case your passenger’s are crying in fright, there is the factory tissue dispenser handily located just under the glove box. A Delco AM/FM Radio graces the dashboard and has that unmistakeable sound of the 60’s. Correct carpeting and headliner with original floor mats finish out the final details to this inviting and highly appointed interior. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk carries a correct mat and jack with a full-sized spare tire below fresh decklid decals. The chassis is highly detailed, original panels and correct to the factory presentation. Power Brakes, Power Steering, and Power Windows complete the Power Package. Other Options include the factory Tissue Dispenser, Bumper Guards and the Wire Wheel Hubcaps, rounding out a host of rare and popular items to Chevy’s high water mark vehicle in those years. The Classic Black and Yellow California Plates are not registered nor come with the sale of this vehicle. They represent the tags that would have originally have accompanied this car when delivered in Pasadena, CA. If purchased by a CA resident a set of Black Plates can easily be purchased in the aftermarket and applied. This fully sorted Super Sport is a wonderful car to drive, enjoy and haul three or four of your coolest friends in. It's really no surprise that these cars are amazingly popular with almost everyone who sees them because they have such a great combination of style, presence and performance.
