1996 Mercedes E 300 Turbo Diesel VIN WDBJ20F1TJ009032 (for some reason unknown to me eBay keeps rejecting this VIN, so I'm forced to list it as a 1980 model year to circumvent this, sorry) NO RESERVE. Good, reliable, economical daily driver, but we have too many cars and my wife (a.k.a. “the boss”) has another Benz she likes better, so it’s up for grabs here on eBay with a 99 cent opening bid. Mileage presently just under 197,000, I’m presently using it as my daily driver until sold, so I’m estimating a tad over 197,000 miles by the end of the auction. Excellent fuel mileage for such a large car (high 20’s around town, mid 30’s on the highway), runs down the highway effortlessly, I’d have no qualms driving it across the country. BUT, since it’s a diesel, it takes more time to get up to speed than a gas powered E320 -- the acceleration can be best described as “ponderous”. Well maintained, will be sold with a fresh oil change. NO RUST; the paint is only “so so” but the color (sort of a light champagne brown) masks it extremely well and you have to be up real close to notice the faded spots, of which there are many . The interior is also “so so” – carpets need to be shampooed, a couple of minor dash cracks, seat leather about to crack in a couple places, wood in nice condition w/ no cracks, a couple of dings in the rear door panels – so please don’t expect a show car! The exhaust will occasionally rattle a little when accelerating, my mechanic attributes it to a loose clamp that he hasn’t been able to locate since it doesn’t rattle all the time. NO other mechanical issues! Car will be available for test drives on Saturdays and Sundays during the auction in Canton, GA, on the far north side of the Atlanta metro area. Sold “as is”, high bid gets it.
