Vehicle Detail
1949 Cadillac Fleetwood sedan, also called a 60S or Sixty Special. Model 6019. Very good condition. Runs well, shifts well, solid body, excellent chrome and stainless. Repainted several years ago and still looks pretty good. All new brakes (new dual circuit master, new shoes, new stainless steel brake lines, new rubber hoses, new/rebuilt wheel cylinders, etc). All new exhaust from front to back. Handles well. Very quiet and solid driving car. Power seat works, as do the front power windows (rear ones don't for some reason). Interior is complete, but just fair (reupholstered in the past, fabrics are not original style). All glass is good. Good body fitment and doors open and close very nicely. Gauges work correctly. Overall, a very good and solid car. Draws a crowd at car club functions. Inspections welcome and encouraged. In answer to a question from an ebayer watching this auction, the seats are stock, only the fabric is non-original. Headliner is fine. No visible rust on the body (no bubbling or blistering on the paint, even though the paint is not new). Bottoms of doors and fenders look nice (even from the back side). Floors look good. One or two body mounts (perhaps these are called floor braces?) are rusty and there is some limited rust in the inner rockers (treated and arrested previously). Frame is rock solid. There is no rust that affects my enjoyment of the car, nor is there any visible rust (unless you put it on a lift and look in very specific places -- even then, from the outside you can't see any signs of rust). I'll post some pictures. I would put tires on it before doing anything else. Car is enjoyable. Price is very reasonable for the condition. If one were to re-do the interior, it would command a much higher price in the market. But I don't have the inclination to do that right now. I am stunned that the car is not already sold. If not sold by the end of this listing, I think I will put some money into an interior and tires and either keep the car or perhaps re-list it down the road for twice the price. I have contacted SMS to get samples for original interior fabrics. If you are interested in getting into a good 49 60S at a super-low price, don't let this opportunity pass you by.
