Vehicle Detail

1980 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Sport Coupe 54K Original Miles Up for sale is my all original, 1980 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Sport Coupe with 54,768 original miles – but will have a little more as I LOVE driving her (she loves to be driven too). AutoCheck found NO records for this 1980 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. VIN: 1Z37KAB485369 Engine: 6 Cylinders Style / Body: Coupe What follows below is what I trust to be an honest description of the vehicle – both the positive and negative. Engine & Mechanics: The car has a very strong and good running V6. She starts right up the first time even in below freezing temperatures. Idle is steady and even, transmission shifts smoothly. Car handles great. Drives like a dream! When I take her on the highway, get her up to 85mph at times, she goes drives straight as an arrow. No shimmying shakes, etc. Car accelerates very nicely with a top speed of 105mph (see specs below)*. Suspension is very good; she rides nice and steady on the streets and the highways. No ups and downs. Just a real nice smooth ride. Brakes stop the car well and the peddle feels nice and firm. This car screams; “DRIVE ME!” Because that’s what she was made for. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive her from NY to CA with confidence (wish I could -J). She’s been that reliable. Both on long road trips and short. Never overheated, stalled; I really can’t think of a time she let me down. I take pride in my cars and therefore take good care of them. I’ve always properly maintained her. Recent maintenance: New belts & hoses, new premium tires & battery, along with an oil change and new filter. I use premium oil and brand name filters. I change it religiously every 2,500-3,000 miles. That’s key! The spare tire looks as though it was never used. Exterior: All Factory Original and in very good condition. Original painted factory pin stripes, factory rally wheels – a very nice option and they look good. Color is a stunning gold / dark tan. Paint is original and still maintains a nice shine. Chrome is fine as well. The car has a few dings and scratches. But there is no rust through on the car. I did notice a few dots of surface rust. Nothing major. The driver’s door has a kind of dimple but it’s not a dent (see photos). Some of the “chrome” mylar on the bumpers peeled off. I did the front lower ones but didn’t bother with the rest. I just didn’t think it was necessary. If you want to do them, I bought a roll of the mylar and it’s in the trunk. To me, these things just aren’t that noticeable. In fact they give the car “character.” A museum car? No. A pristine 100 point show car? No. A trailer queen. No. Its all American, pure Chevrolet. When they were made right! I like to drive my cars, not worry about every little scratch. But she’s all original. Down to the factory AM/FM Radio. This car is not “muscled” out like so many are- and that’s fine, but I like mine straight up & original. To each his own. Nor are these imperfections noticeable to the many people that stop and admire this car. She really is a head turner. I was getting gas (premium only) the other day, and one of the mechanics came out of the garage and just started taking photos of the car! Interior: The interior is in very nice condition, the bucket seats are in very good shape and quite comfortable, the nice factory sport center shifter makes for a very nice touch and adds to the driving pleasure and comfort. Rear seats are close to perfect and pretty roomy. Carpet is clean and shows very little wear. Headliner is intact. Dash is excellent with no cracks or anything. The center console compartment seems to be a bit off, but I think it may just be a spring or clasp. It still opens and closes and you can put stuff in it. All glass is clear and original. All exterior and interior lights function properly. Ashtray and (working) cigarette lighter look like they've been used – But it comes in handy for charging your phone, gps, whatever. And she certainly wasn’t smoked in. She's been garaged most if her life. * 1980 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 3.8L V-6 Automatic - Specifications Basic specs and characteristics: gasoline engine 231.4 cui displacement Power: 110 hp / 190 lb-ft / 1600 of torque. I did a search on eBay and this is what I found: 1980 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Just sold on eBay: $6,200-$10,000 I found ONE for sale with 75,600 miles. Same car, same engine, but no rally wheels, and it doesn’t look anywhere nice as the one here. That listing includes this; “The tan interior has bucket seats and is spotless the only flaw is a small rip in the driver’s seat and the dash board has sun damage. The car runs great and gets decent gas mileage (close to 22 mpg hwy). Blue Book Value for this car is around 5,000.” I’m not trying to get down on this seller; it might be a great car.
