Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a beautiful and loved 1961 Ford Falcon. Please make sure that you read the entire description there will be a lot of information for you, but will give you great idea on how the car was maintained, the items you will need to help you to completely restore it, and the description will show you an amazing vintage Ford Automobile. This Falcon origially comes from Missouri, but lived in Grand Haven, MI for the past 5. For the past five years it was garaged in the winter and a daily driver in warmer weather (on and off, the previous owner would occasionally use his truck instead of the Falcon). On average it was driven approximately 27 miles a day on and off. It has been in storage since last fall, which is when I personally drove it last. The Falcon is in good running condition. It will need a tune up to get the perfect purr, but you can start it up and go with out an issue. The things needed along with the tune up is the starter needs to be tightened up underneath (there is a small clanking noise from this). This starter does not affect the way the car drives, only makes it a slightly louder. You would also have to replace the transmission bushing piece. The engine is the original Ford 6-cylinder (straight six) and the numbers on the engine do match the car) The engine is 144 Cu Inches and with only 73,000 miles this engine has a lot of life left. The Ford Straight 6 is an extremely strong and long lasting motor. Transmission is an automatic 2 speed. and is in good working order. The breaks are in working condition, but could be a little more responsive. So, if you like the way it stops you could leave it as is, or if you would like them a bit tighter have them looked at. The windshield wipers do work, but they will need a new vacuum hose and seal (they only work by vacuum air pressure). So until this is replaced they won't move. The wiper rubber should be replaced. The muffler and muffler exhaust manifold gasket need to be installed but are included with the car. They are a newer after market muffler and exhaust. The exterior of the vehicle is a very nice and retro teal blue with a white top. It really helps to keep the original feel of the car. The paint was redone this past summer (2012) and he did leave the original white top so this too is in good condition. The original chrome trim pieces are also included. The are in good condition and with a little polish could be in great condition. They will need to be installed. There are no dents in this car and the body lines look great. The firewall is in excellent shape, with no rust or holes. the trunk is in good condition with only one small hole on the right hand side (approximately 2"x1.5" in size) easily repairable. The widows and windshield are all intact and in great shape. Not chips or cracks. the driver side mirror is a bit worn, but easily restored or replaced. This Falcon has a nice set of Ford rims and tires, which are also in good condition. The electrical all works in this Falcon; lights, radio, heater, etc. (The heat is a little weak on blowing, not sure if this is a design flaw or a blower issue). The interior is going to need a little more love and tender care. The headliner is missing and will need to be replaced entirely. The front driver seat needs to be replaced or completely reupholstered. The The driver side needs cushions, and would need more replacing. The passenger side and back would be far easier to reupholster. The carpeting would also need to be replaced to help make it look showroom quality. The dash area does have a few scratches in the paint, and the steering wheel finish has multiple cracks. The wiring is exposed from a cd player and speakers that were installed, just needs the old radio (need refinishing) or a replacement radio to look as good as new. You will see from the pictures that there is leopard print door lining. This can easily be replaced to help restore it to it's original form. This is a great project car for someone ready to find their second love. It's a true piece of history and has a great start to an even greater car. Starting at $100.00 and a small reserve could make this your dream car. For any questions or further information please contact Dave at (616) 723-2571. Thank you for looking and Happy Bidding.
