Vehicle Detail

I am relisting the car because someone hit my "Buy It Now" to try to have first right of refusal. I am relisting without a "Buy It Now", highest bidder gets the car. DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE NOT OR CAN NOT BUY THE CAR, ask any and all questions before bidding. This will be the last time I list this car on Ebay. On to the description.... A very nice condition 1969 VW Bug that was fully restored to original/stock 20k miles ago (8 years ago). I have owned it for 2 years and added some upgrades to it including disc brakes front & rear. Lowered 2" in front and I had the back dropped one click. Added remote oil filter, new coil pack, 4 new tires, new shocks, new ignition, new belts and crank wheels, new spark plugs (I also have some new ones in the box that will go with the car), new gasket seals, new oil cooler, new gas filler hose, new battery and a number of other maintenance related parts. It has passed smog every time I have taken it in without having to have any adjustments or work done. The car was in original stock condition when I bought it however I did not like the drum brakes for city driving so I bought 4 wheel disc brakes (cip1.com kit) and also did the lowering at that time. The car never leaked until very recently so I took it into the shop and found out it needed a new oil cooler which I just replaced. The car does not leak at all now and drives perfect. The headlights, hi beams, tail lights, interior lights, license plate light, dash lights and all gauges work including fuel gauge. The wipers, turn signals, and horn work. The heater boxes are connected and working, it gets warm and toasty in the cabin when they are on. The front beam is stock and not an adjustable beam. The floors and pan are original, rust free and unrepaired. The battery box is rust free and also original. The reverse lights and emergency signal lights do not work, I believe they are just disconnected but I never bothered to look into fixing them. It has a detachable face Sony CD Player with aux input for an Ipod/phone and (2) 10" Subs on the rear deck that look factory with matching carpet. It has dark tinted windows. The overall condition of the car is very good, I get compliments and people asking me to sell it all the time. The car looks very good with a very shiny paint job that doesn't show major flaws. It is not a show car but an exceptionally nice driver. It has some paint chips in the front, there are some tiny dents on the top (too small to photo) which look like it might have been hit by a hail storm at some point. There is some rubber cracking on the turn signals and the taillight trim. Most of the other rubber is in excellent shape and was replaced when the car was restored. There is a small dent on the metal trim piece that goes across the driver door. There are no dents or dings on the body (with exception to those tiny ones on the roof). The interior is very nice with only one issue that I am aware of which is a small hole in the drivers seat caused by a loose spring that pokes into the fabric. It is not an eyesore. The switch that controls airflow into the cabin is not connected. There is a small bend in the rear bumper that was caused at a car wash where their employee drove the car through the machine instead of hand washing it, they refused to take responsibility for their screw up. It is not that noticeable unless you are looking for it or standing right up above the bumper. I'm also guessing this car was in a fender bender at some point because the front right fender is slightly wider than the other side. I never would have known until we lowered the car and saw the small difference in spacing from the one side to the other (if I didn't tell you this, you would never know by looking at the car). The biggest issue with the car and only real flaw I can mention is that if you shift into 2nd gear above 18mph it can start to make a grinding noise, particularly in hot weather. It was like this when I bought it and the same for the previous owner when he bought it. I was told by the mechanic that worked on it that the issue is common with bugs and it could go forever like that. If you shift under 18mph (which you most likely will do normally) you won't ever even notice it. It does not need a new transmission or clutch, this car will easily drive another 20k miles as is with normal driving. The car gets great gas mileage and is exceptionally cheap to own, if you like the classic car vibe you will love how reliable and fun this car is to own. It has never once left me stranded and it always starts and runs like a champ even in the hot 110°F summer heat of Nevada. It does not need any kind of mechanical work and this is not a driving fixer project. I will include all of the original parts that I have and anything else bug related that is in my garage. I have been amazed at how this car gets peoples attention. You will be honked at, get thumbs up everywhere you go, see people punching each other, followed and photo'd. I can't even count the number of times people stop me to talk VW Bugs or ask to take pictures when I go to the grocery store or other crowded places. I made a quick video to show the car running, the car is not clean in the video so that is what it looks like when it's in need of a wash. The photos are from when it was washed. I just took photos to try to get the underside of the car, these are just random shots from all around the bottom. You could get in this car and drive it across country without any mechanical failures, however it has a stock transmission (not a freeway flyer) so you would want to keep it at 60-65mph or less. I will ship the car internationally however you are responsible for arranging shipping, I am not a car dealer so I can not assist you with this aside from getting the car to the shipper. Please make all of these arrangements before bidding. Shipping cost is buyers responsibility. Please ask any and all questions before placing a bid or buying this car. Do not bid if you can not pay for the car. If you are the winner, please contact me to let me know when you will make payment. Please make any and all arrangements to see the car or have an inspection made before the close of the auction. If you want to pay for a Private Party Inspection, I will assist with getting the car to the shop of your choice. This must be done before the end of the auction.
