Vehicle Detail

Everything good about this van was listed in the title. Now for the rest. It’s a long cargo type van (more than 12 feet - exact length never measured/known in 2 years. I never needed to know. You can Google the specs if you do.) An 8 cylinder gas guzzler, a belt or pulley has been squeaking the whole two years or so I’ve owned it. My neighbors will be especially glad to see this van get sold. Old carpet and no seats in the back. It smokes, the registration is currently expired, and it will not pass smog. The driver’s side, passenger and rear doors leak in the rain because the rubber around them is shot. Currently they all have duct tape flaps over them that seem to help. As you know Orange County, CA doesn’t get much rain and that helps too. I know a place that online that will sell you new rubber for $106.90 so keep that in mind when bidding. Neither the heater or air conditioner work. I think it’s just a blown fuse on the heater blower as that worked when I bought the thing but the air conditioning never blew cold when the blower did work. Like the lack of rain helps the leaky doors, the moderate climate in Southern California reduces this to a minor inconvenience. There's something funky with the odometer and more often than not it makes noise and swings wildly to the left and the right. The brakes are shot and pull the van hard to the left when you step on them but they do bring you to a stop. When in motion and not using the brakes the van pulls to the right. Probably due more to the tires than the alignment. Speaking of the tires, none of the them (except the spare) are flat but I would measure the miles left on them in hundreds, not thousands. The left front is meant to be the spare and it’s a different size rim than the others. As for other safety issues, the driver’s side seat belt doesn’t retract (in use or not) and in fact the shoulder portion remains quite loose when fastened. It may not be any use at all in an accident. Since I never had one I don’t know. I can only recommend you fix it if you plan on having one. It’s too tall to park in the garage where I live. I'm pretty sure there's an issue with the thermostat because the last time I drove it any distance it overheated. Needless to say that was the last time I drove it any distance. The two miles to work or 5 to my friends house however have shown no issues. The passenger door is missing the door handle. The driver's side broke one day opening the door and I took the one from the passenger side. Manual windows of course. The driver's side window crank knob broke off recently too. I do still have the knob. Occasionally, shutting the door makes the piece that didn’t break pop off and it has to be put back on. Also, there's an electrical short in the overhead lights (horn and radio on same circuit) and when you turn them on more likely than not that fuse blows. It’s currently blown so neither the inside lights, horn or radio are currently working. Bring a 25 amp standard blade fuse if you want to test them before buying. About the radio. It’s a removable face cd/radio that has no manual, eats cds and I could never figure out how to change the time. The 18 FM and 6AM pre-set buttons for the radio stations are easy to use though. It also has a remote control for some reason. You can take the keys out of the ignition with the thing running. Windshield has a small chip in it. No major dents but there are patches of rust on the roof. The roof itself doesn’t leak though and some of the patches were sanded and sprayed with gray primer. There is no liner inside on the roof, just what I think is thin wood. Some attempt at putting up curtains was made and 3 of the windows in the back do have curtain rods, two have make-shift curtains made from black felt bought at a thrift store. There are additional curtain rods that come with the van. You may do with them as you please. The same with the blanket-made-curtain that divides the front from the rear. The left rear door had a bunch of bungie type cords in it when the van was purchased. Those will be left for the next owner. Just reach inside and pull them out. The blanket hangs on two of them that stretch from one side of the van to the other just behind the seats. Water pump replaced 2 years ago and battery too. No other major work done. Being sold as-is, where is. No warranty implied or otherwise. Everything over $1K (if it makes it that far) will go to the charity of the buyer's choice in their name and they get tax receipt. Local buyers only, payment in cash or cashiers check only (drawn on local bank obviously). I have no idea how many previous owners so don’t bother asking which one I am. I don’t know. Those that want to come by and see this wondrous vehicle in all of it’s current glory are welcome to do so. Send an email to arrange it! Serious buyers only please. Ebay charges what’s a small fortune to little guys like me for running a car auction.
