No accident history,  perfectly maintained. With nearly 500 horsepower  and over 500 ft-lbs of torque, the S55 was and  remains still, one of the fastest 4-door sport sedans on  the planet. Acceleration from any speed, at any  RPM is breathtaking and creature comforts defy  description. Everything heroic and amazing you  imagine about an ultra-high performance car from  Germany, this Mercedes-Benz possesses in wretched  excess. The Owners' Note Every  Wednesday I attend a small specialty auction at Carmax  here in Las Vegas. The vehicles there are recent trades  and direct purchases from the original owners either  from here in the Las Vegas or from Southern California  Carmax locations. Carmax has a policy that states  if a car is 9 years old or older (no matter what the  miles are, low or not), has been modified, or is newer  and has over 100k miles, those cars must be sold at  their dealer auction only. These cars are not available  to the public direct. So, I get a list of these cars on  Tuesday and head down to look over the inventory for the  cream of the crop. I am very exclusive with what I  choose to buy. I specifically look for cars that were  obviously extremely well cared for to a degree that may  be classified as anal retentive. I look for rarity and  those cars that are hard to come by (or at least hardly  ever see) but they all have to be EXTREMELY unique in  quality and condition. I can look past a few issues like  tires , basic mechanical repairs and basic cosmetics  because I can correct those in my reconditioning; much  like you see here. So,  if you were to line up all 2003 Mercedes Benz S55 AMGs  in the US, this car would be in the top 10 percent in  it's line up for function and condition. In other words,  good luck finding one that doesn't need anything  addressed, fixed or when you get it, you'll shoot it  right over to your shop for a shocking repair bill.
