Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1972 C-3 Corvette - Numbers Matching Sport Coupe - 454 cu.in., 4 speed manual transmission with 73K miles. It is an absolutely beautiful, unmolested classic white ’72 Corvette in excellent condition. It is equipped with: leather interior (saddle), factory COLD A/C, power steering, T-Tops and new tires. In addition to the classic body style and rumbling raw power of the 454 cu. in. motor, 1972 was the final year for a removable rear window and chrome bumpers, both front and rear. This car is a great representative of the end of the classic era, and the last Corvette to feature a bright egg crate grill and side fender grills. I purchased this vehicle in 2002 in Pine Bush, NY after a looong search for the right chromed C-3. I looked at several 68-72s for sale on the east coast and test drove about 5 of them, and each had issues. When I climbed behind the wheel of this powerhouse, I knew this was a great car. It is beautiful, powerful, drives straight and is very tight (steering, drivetrain, and suspension). It doesn’t rattle, and the air conditioning blows cold. Just a slight press on the gas pedal will put you back in the seat. Before I purchased it, I verified it is numbers matching. I inspected the under body and found no evidence of any fiberglass or frame repairs or damage. It was repainted (original color) in 2001, and the bumpers re-chromed. I have no reason to doubt the odometer reading or the integrity of the car. The appearance of the laser straight fiberglass and paint is spectacular, showing only a few expected stone chips in the paint. The chrome strip along the passenger side running board has a small dent in it, and is visible in one of the close-up photos. (It appears someone may have dented it with an improperly positioned jack.) Also visible in photos, the front grill shows some peeling. The headlights and wipers (vacuum operated) are fully functional. The interior is in very good condition. The drivers seat shows a little wear near the seatbelt buckle (rubs when the seatback is tilted forward), and on the outer edge of the seat back, caused by operator entry/exit. All of the gauges function, however the clock works intermittently (cleaning the contacts on rear of clock would correct). As I don’t drive it regularly, the fuel gauge has stuck a couple of times over the years, but frees up and functions properly when driven often enough to refuel a couple of times in the same season. Some of the clear plastic covers on the gauges show a little pitting, which is visible in the photos. There are no other issues with this car, it is truly in excellent condition. Whether admiring the style and shape of the body or dumping adrenaline into your system while enjoying the awesome power of the 454, you won’t believe you are behind the wheel of a 40 year old car. It is an excellent driver, and if you desire a 'vette that turns a lot of heads, needs absolutely nothing and is ready to show, you have found your baby! My reserve is very reasonable for a Corvette of this vintage with a big-block engine which is in such great condition.
