Vehicle Detail
This is a 1979 Scout II. The serial number will confirm it was originally a Rallye model. The scout is lifted 2 inches, and equipped with a 345 C.I. V8 with a 4 BBL carburator. The gear box is a Borg Warner T-19 wide. The wide ratio gear box is highly desired for it's low gearing. This has been an on going project, spanning the last Five years. For economic reasons, I am now forced to sell. The paint was been restored to the original "Tahitian Red" five years ago (5000.00). Prior to painting, all body parts were remove to the tub. Anything with rust was replaced, or reconditioned. the inner fenders, floor and the insides of the outer fenders were coated with POR-15 prior to painting. This Scout has more new parts than I can list here, all parts and upgrades have less than 1000 miles from time of installation. Here are the highlights: T-19 gear box professionally rebuilt. New CarburatorNew Davis Unified Ignition ($500.00)Three Point seat beltsNew Smitty Built seatsNew OEM rubber floorNew Front and Rear bumpers, fabricated by D and C Extreme ($1000.00 invested)New Water Pump, and three core Radiator, with new thermostatNew Smog PumpNew Diaphram Clutch Overall this is one of the most solid Scouts to be found. It's not perfect yet. Some things that need attention : Needs a battery hold down bracket. Although the Scout was professionally painted, the shop did a poor job aliening one of the doors and windshield frame. It will need a new Exhast System eventually; Spedo needs a new head piece to be operational; Originally came with A/C. Purchased a compressor and vent panel, they can be included in the sale. The top makes noise, it's a Scout! Removing the head liner and shoring up the sheet metal cross bracing would fix this. The paint is beautiful, except for the tennis ball size ding in the tail gate, courtesy of a parking lot hit and run. The Scout does not have a center console. The Glove Box door needs a new latch retainer, drivers door needs the plastic linkage piece to make the lock operational. Please call me with any questions. Email will be responded to as time permits. Also, the winning bidder will receive a Bimini Top with the transaction.
