Up for auction is my 1977 Mercury Marquis. This car has been the summer daily driver in my collection, and now I have a different car that I want to move to that duty, so I am selling this one for someone else to enjoy. It has just 61K original miles and is powered by a 400 CI big block V8 with an automatic transmission. The car runs and drives 100% as it should and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere, any distance. The only thing that does not work is the clock. All the other accessories work as they should. It has power windows, locks, tilt, cruise, air, and even a working AM/FM 8 Track with a Chrystal Gayle 8 Track tape in it! It has been recently serviced and is ready to go. Other recent work includes a COMPLETE exhaust system from the engine all the way to the tailpipe, all new brakes front and rear, new shocks, and new tires. The interior is in fantastic shape overall with only two defects. There is one crack in the dash pad, and the steering wheel plastic has a couple cracks as well. The body is pretty decent for the age, it does have a small rust spot at the bottom front edge of the drivers door and the vinyl at the base of the rear window above the trunk has peeled back a little. There is the usual nicks dings and scuufs you would expect on a 35 yr old unrestored car. The paint shines pretty good however it is a little thin on a few edges here and there from age. None of these issues detract from the enjoyment of the car, or it's presence. The vacuum operated headlight doors operate as they should and stay down when the car is off, they don't creep up like most do. Overall this is a great "driver" quality car that still turns heads and is an absolute joy to drive. The fact that it isn't a cherry show car is part of what makes it so relaxing for me to drive as I didn't always have to watch the weather and worry like all the others in my collection. If it rained.. so what.. I just washed it and drove it some more!!! This is truely a car you could fly in and drive home.
