This ’92 Mustang GT Convertible (automatic, 80K mi) hosts a solid body and a 3yr old professionally installed top. InteriorI just finished cleaning the interior and find the carpet to be in Excellent condition. The rear leather seats are in fantastic condition with barely any visible wear other than from the seatbelt. The passenger front seat has a small tear in the seating area and shows visible signs of wear. Driver seat has no rips or tears but is also well worn. The dash has no cracks and cleaned up nicely. The whole instrument cluster works but will need 2-3 bulbs replaced. The center console: ashtray cover is disconnected but present, and the top of the arm rest/storage is missing. With the new convertible top came a newly installed headliner. Windshield has no cracks. Power window both work fine. Power locks are not working. The rear driver window works fine, but the passenger rear window will need a new motor as it will not go back up easily. The convertible top goes up and down easily and the motor that brings the top up/down seems strong. You will probably want new car mats, but the existing set is included with purchase. Exterior While the car has sat outside in Virginia most of its life, there are only a few surface-rust spots…primarily where the front-end cover wore the paint down. The paint is generally oxidized; it may or may not shine up with some effort. The door bottoms and trunk are solid there are no rust holes or rust damage I can see. There are no dents on the car, no body filler, and as far as I know the body panels are original. The front turn signal lenses have been replaced, but the original head light lenses are present and hazy. All lights exterior work. Back tires have decent tread left and the rims are in expected 20yr shape. The front tires will need replacement as well as the passenger rim that has curb damage. Wipers work, but rubber blades need to be replaced and metal should be repainted, wiper fluid spray did not work when tested. The black plastic cowl on the hood near the windshield is cracked will need replacement. Both power mirrors work fine. Ground effects on under the passenger door will need re=fastening as I can see it is loose, driver side looks good. Convertible top has no holes, and does not leak from what I have seen. Mechanics I am not well versed on mechanics, so I will give you my opinion. The car has a new battery and starts up, though not with the gusto I would expect. Not sure if that is because the car has not been seriously driven for a year or if there are other issues. Once it is running, there is a valve ticking noise from the driver side. The oil dipstick is not original and may be completely incorrect for the car but there is oil in the crankcase and it does not leak or blow smoke. The radiator was full, but the reservoir for overflow is dirty and the top/cap will not go on correctly. The engine bay generally is dusty. Brakes work fine but are softer than preferred. Steering is good, though I don’t want to force sharp turns with the bad front tire I mentioned earlier. Exhaust is throaty and as I would expect. When driving the car, it has good pick-up but less than what I think is possible, if someone tuned-up the car. Summary There you have it. It is no show car, but it has a great deal of potential. This Mustang has a solid body, newer Top, pretty good interior (aside from the console) for its age. The exterior will need brightening, two new front tires and one rim new/fixed. Mechanically, in my opinion after a tune-up you should have a great driver.
