Another "Young Classic" presented for your consideration, this absolute time capsule 1996 Jeep Cherokee COUNTRY in the BEST color combo of alpine white/grey two tone with dark grey interior. This thing is just mint and BEAUTIFUL. It has been a LONG time since I've seen an XJ Cherokee in the ORIGINAL pre-1997 Series in this condition. Cool truck. History: To the best of our knowledge and all the information available to us, this car appears to have been owned by 2 owners (more than likely just 1 owner with an ownership change recently as shown on the Autocheck report) and was always owned (and garaged) in Saint Louis, MO. Originally purchased locally at Reuther Chrysler/Jeep and driven very sparingly with less than 69k miles! Super high Auto-check score of 45 out of a typical 13-37 range, with zero accidents. Exterior: The extremely low mileage at just 68k appears fully in line with the beautiful condition of this car, having been driven sparingly over the past 16 years. This is reflected in the straight, corrosion free SOLID body from stem to stern and top to undercarriage, appearing to STILL retain its original paint after all this time. Unlike SO many of these '90s era Jeeps (and Chryslers) the white paint shines on every surface. There is no fading, peeling, or sheeting in any of the lustrous white paint. Aside from one small chipped area on the top of the tailgate, the paint is spectacular. The tailgate, and base of the tailgate and fittings are also completely free of corrosion. All of the exterior emblems are present and in their correct factory locations. You mayfind some minor dents and dings if you look hard enough on this vehicle, but overall the beautiful white finish really is top notch just everywhere. We are presenting this vehicle exactly as we received it, unmolested or changed in any way. All exterior trim panels and bumper corners are in-tact, and unbroken and also have remarkably blemish free grey paint. EVERY pane of glass on the exterior of this vehicle is original Chrysler SAFEGUARD glass for the era, with no cracks or damage. All of the exterior lighting on this vehicle is working perfectly, and all lenses are in remarkable unfaded condition. The exterior of this car simply presents as what one would expect from a deeply loved and cherished 1 owner auto. Interior: The interior of this vehicle continues the testament brought forth by the stunning exterior. You will not find tears, splits, rips, odors or stains anywhere in the gorgeous grey combination cloth/vinyl interior with matching stain free grey carpet. Dashboard is crack free. All of the emblems, decals and indicators are in place and accounted for. All of the convenience items are present and functional, and all of the cigarette lighters are present and appear to have NEVER been used. There is no question this vehicle was never smoked in or mistreated. The steering wheel retains its original luster with no fading or wear. These are usually faded and worn through. The simulated wood panels throughout the interior are in fantastic shape. All of the interior chrome shines like the day it came off the showroom floor. All of the switches are present and all of them function. Headliner is in great shape. The interior of this vehicle is simply one of the best cared for I've witnessed for any utility vehicle of this era. I routinely see two year old luxury cars that aren't this nice inside. Mechanical: There are NO warning lights present in this vehicle. The engine and transmission on this Jeep start and run smoothly with no smoke, odors noises or issues. Even the engine bay itself is in well cared for condition, though NOT simply cleaned up and shined. The engine is full of life and has the trademark AMC I6 sound. Power is plentiful and there is never a sense that the car isn't ready and willing to do whatever it is asked. We have driven this car recently and have not found any leaks noises or other problems. All of the hoses and belts and wires in the engine compartment appear supple and maintained. The 4 Speed automatic transmission easily shifts into all gears and performs beautifully on the highway or in town. The suspension on this vehicle is quiet, compliant and performs flawlessly. This vehicle just passed a Missouri State safety inspection with flying colors and after all these years did not need anything replaced to pass. The Selec-Trac 4WD system is functional and engages without issue. All four matching Michelin LTX M/S (very nice tires) tires have a minimum of 80 percent remaining tread, and the rims are in fantastic condition with no putting or major wear of any kind. If you live in a community with safety inspections, you know these can be profit centers for the third party performing them, and passing is no easy task for older vehicles and classic cars. I would drive this Jeep just about anywhere. Accessories: To the best of our determination, everything in the Jeep works as the day it was brand new. The original headunit was at some point replaced with the very nice Kenwood headunit seen in the photos below, which INCLUDES a remote control. For those who prefer originality, the original AMC/Jeep cassette headunit is available for a very nominal price via Ebay, however the Kenwood currently installed sounds fantastic and allows AUX connections to modern MP3 players, phones and such. There are no blown speakers in this Jeep. The A/C is cold and the compressor cycles as it should. All four power windows go up and down with rapid velocity and little fuss or noise. The cruise control does appear to work without issue in this vehicle. This Country includes the popular and hard to find Keyless Entry group option and it works flawlessly with both remotes. It is simply a solid, and well functioning interior. Overall, this is amongst the best of the available ORIGINAL body Cherokees on the market today. These are becoming so increasingly hard to find in non abused and well maintained condition. If you've been holding out for one of these little Jeeps with the best trim package and color combo and don't want to drop thousands more for a modern alternative, this IS your car. With the right minimal maintenance and upkeep these Jeeps can traverse 250k and beyond without a hitch.
