Up for auction is an extremely fine example of a rare car for the year. This is a numbers matching 427/390, 4 spd with factory air coupe with factory side pipes. Plus there is tremendous amount of receipts and documentation including tank sticker and a recent digital picture history of a recent on body restoration. Very seldom do you find this sort of documentation. Besides the tank sticker ther are receipts, titles and etc going back to the early 1980's. Two binders full plus a flash drive of recent work. This car is currently owned by an NCRS member and collector. It's one thing to say something has been done it's another to have the docs to back it up. Let me go over this fine example in detail. EXTERIOR: Beautiful correct silver paint completed in the past couple years in base/clear coat. The old paint was stripped to gel coat and then painted. During this process it was evident this was a NO HIT BODY with no damage evident anywhere. Rare for the year. Shows very well. Since the paint is couple years old I will not call it a ten because only trailer queens can be that and I've even seen flaws in them. However the paint is excellent and ready to show. All the t-top, doors and window gaskets are fresh. All emblems are new and turn signal and tail light assemblies still retain their factory date codes. All window glass is factory and in excellent condition. Side windows still retain Astro Ventilation logo's and are original. Headlight assemblies work perfectly and have been totally rebuilt with new hardware and actuators. The rear luggage rack was installed years ago and does have some flaws. Tried replacing but could not find anything that would match mounting holes. Car has new optional side louvers inserts. The side exhaust covers have new chrome and look and sound great. If needed the under car exhaust is still available and is in great shape. All body panels line up great and all doors hood etc open and close easily. To set off the paint a brand new set of red line tires have been added. All chrome and stainless are in excellent shape. All exterior lights work. And of course the wiper door works as designed. Overall the outside shows excellent and get's thumbs up everywhere this fine Vette goes. INTERIOR: Just like the exterior the interior is exceptional. The carpeting and door panels are new. Dash pad and all other interior trim are excellent. All interior and dash lights work. The tilt/tele wheel is tight and the power windows work perfectly. All gauges including the radio, tach, all fibre optics and speedo work. The clock has a new quartz movement so it even works.The seats are original and are excellent and the seat tracks work well. The rear 3 door compartment is new. Both t-top headliners are perfect with new seals all around. The factory 4 spd shifter was replaced with a Hurst because the factory shifter was non functioning. Still have original shifter if required. The e-brake works which is unusual for these cars. All heater and a/c controls work and the a/c works. Blows cold. The interior has many new parts to numerous to list. Floors are solid. MECHANICAL: The 427 is original to the car and runs perfect. No smoke or noises. The engine compartment is highly detailed using factory correct parts when possible. All new colored coded vacuum lines. New a/c compressor. Over recent past the engine was rebuilt as well as the clutch. Have receipts from previous owner for documentation of this. All of the correct engine decals are present. The distributor points were replaced with elecronic igniotion. No leaks or problems anywhere. The frame is solid and well as the bird cage. No issues here. The suspension shows recent calipers, brake pads, shocks and new bushings through out. The power steering works and the car steers tight and straight. This Vette drives and brakes perfectly. There is a tight feeling about the car as you drive. The trans shifts perfect and the steering interlock still works. Personally I wouldn't hesitate driving this car anywhere. There has been extensive mechanical work done to this car over the recent years and it would be impossible to document here. OVERALL: This is a no excuse fine example of a big block 4 speed car. It's hard to find them in this condition anymore. Is this car perfect like a new one. Surely not. But you can get into this car and do nothing but enjoy the sweet sound of the side pipes while driving. There is nothing like a big block 4 spd.
