Vehicle Detail

1966 Yenko Stinger Corvair YS302 I have owned this wonderful one of a kind Yenko for over 21years. I first purchased the car in the spring of 1991. We striped her to the metal and repainted her within a couple of weeks from purchase with DuPont Chroma Base/Clear. It still shows very well, although it has a few chips and scratches. I have enjoyed driving, autocrossing, rallying, and showing this car for a long time. My interest have shifted recently and I feel that it is time for someone else to enjoy. This would be a perfect car for driving in one or several of the Vintage Rallies held each year. It would also be a blast on the HOT ROD Magazine Power Tour. Why not show up with something completely different! The engine is fresh with a properly date coded block, I rebuilt it in 2010 and have put about 500 miles on her since. It is equipped with Salih 3 9/16" cylinders honed +.005" with custom made JE Pistons, a new Isky 270 camshaft, ARP rod bolts, 10.0:1 fly cut heads that are ported for 1 1/2" carburetors although it is running stock bore carbs, tig welded crankshaft timing gear, set screwed camshaft gear, Otto parts oil pan, all rotating parts computer balanced, sheet metal is all powder coated. It runs beautifully! I built it the same way I build my Yenko Stinger road race engines. My road race Stinger (YS095) has turned the fastest Corvair or Stinger lap times at the last two Mitty's at Road Atlanta (1:46.747). The transaxle is a 3:55 to 1 ratio with a positraction differential and stock ratio Saginaw 4 speed. The suspension has been rebuilt with all new bushings and ball joints. the rear strut rods have been updated with heim jointed adjustable rods. It also has a fresh set of Koni shocks, and quick steering arms. The body is very solid although there are a few blemishes (after all, the paint is almost 22 years old!). The floor pans are in great condition as you can see from the pictures, and they are original. It has a power top. The top is Haartz Stayfast cloth. The wheels are Minilite 14x7 sport wheels with 215/60-14 BF Goodrich Comp TA's (there good but getting old). It also has a pair of rare green dot Talbot racing mirrors. The interior is in very nice condition. It has the Delco AM FM radio, although not working last I checked, it kind of comes and goes. The car is equipped with the wood grained steering wheel with the telescopic steering column and short throw shifter. It also has Stewart Warner Stage I oil pressure and voltmeter gauges in the center of the dash. The glove box door is signed by Donna Mae Mims, Yenko Sports Cars, Hi-performance manager. This car is mentioned in the book "Vintage American Road Racing Cars 1950-1970" by Harold W. Pace and Mark R. Brinker, page 130. It is also mentioned in "YENKO, The Man, The Machines, The Legend" by Bob McClurg, page 88. The history of this car is very interesting, It was actually converted to Yenko Stinger specs in 1976 from a pristine 1966 Corsa 140hp 4 speed convertible for Yenko customer Everett Gouak of Fort Washington, PA. I have a copy of the Yenko authorization letter dated 7/7/76 referencing the GM VIN and the Yenko tag number. Yenko didn't have a deck lid in stock at the time the mechanical mods were done. The Yenko decklid was shipped to Everett on 7/13/76 to finish the Yenko body modification. I have the original trucking company consignee's memo and the original letter from Everett to Don Yenko complaining about how long it has taken to get his parts! Sometime between 1976 and 1979 Everett sold the car to Lewis Friedman of Potomac, MD. Then between 1979 and 1981 Lewis sold the car back to Everett! In 1981 Everett sold the car to Harry Bennett of Scottsdale AZ. I bought the car from Harry in 1991. I sold the car in 2007 to James Kamihachi of North East, MD, a few months later I traded Yenko Stinger YS003 plus cash to get the car back! I have owned 10 Yenko Stingers total! My reserve is very reasonable. Phone Jeff @ 417-343-4747 to discuss The images are very large, please give them time to load The Yenko 40th at Reunion. The convertible was a "show class winner" This is a link to a YouTube test drive video that I put together today: http://youtu.be/SfJznKnW7fc Copy and paste the link into your browser to view, Thanks Please email with additional questions, Thank you.
