Vehicle Detail
I am offering for sale my 1931 Buick 887 as my wife says if I buy another car I have to sell one first so here goes.... This Buick is an older restoration that still looks very good. Paint is very good, interior is like new still and all glass is perfect.I would guess the restoration was done about 10 years ago as a previous owner wanted to drive it in the Great Race but health reasons did not allow him to compete. He made a few modifications to the original as follows. He added a 6 volt alternator and original generator still remains. A down draft carburetor was added to replace the updraft however manifold is the same just flipped 180 degrees. An electric fuel pump was also added for easier starts. A coolant recovery system was also added along with a taller gear for higher speeds. Turn signals and modern brake lights were also added along with seats belts for safety. The odometer shows a little over 6,000 miles but would assume it is not correct. It does work as do all gauges, heater, windows, etc. The model 887 was a car that spoke a lot about the owner in 1931 You were a Doctor, Lawyer, Banker or successful business owner with a family if you were to buy this car. This was the first year for the big straight 8 cylinder engine which is 344 cu. in and was the largest one Buick made. She still runs strong and just purr's when driven. Even today this car makes heads turn and she has won many trophies in the past and recently. Just 2 weeks ago I showed her at an Exchange Club show here in Nashville and she placed 2nd to a trailer queen 31 Ford coup that looked brand new. However I did win best of show for a GM car and had quite a bit of new and old competition. My reserve is what I paid for this car when I bought her a year and a half ago, I have driven it about 200 miles since purchased and absolutely nothing has broken or quit working on this car. It is a beautiful car inside and out and the new owner will enjoy her beauty as much as I have. The only reason I am selling this car is I drive it the least of my cars and I am looking for a 1959-1962 Cadillac convertible to purchase. The car is available for viewing at my home anytime and would suggest any serious buyers to come look and drive the car. I have sold several old cars on Ebay over the years, a 59 corvette, 74 Triumph TR-6 just to name a few. I like old cars but more than that I love NICE old cars. You would not be disappointed. I am putting a few photos on the site today but will be taking many more over the weekend when I can pull it out of the garage. The garage lights do not do it justice and I want several good close ups. The pictures I am showing now were done by a photographer for a young bride and groom that wanted a car like the 31 Buick. If you have any questions feel free to ask via Ebay . The car is also for sale via several other means so it is subject to prior sale before auction ends. Thanks for looking. Today I pulled the car out and got a few more photos of dash, roof, interior and full side view. If you would like a photo of anything drop me a note and I will take care of it. While the car was out I did a complete walk around to find anything that is not perfect. First, this is not a show car, it is a driver. From 3 feet she is perfect but from 1 foot she has a few flaws as follows; small scuff in black below front passenger door and above running board.Sloppy glue work in 2 small areas on vinyl roof at seam about 1 inch long.Chrome on radiator grill is a little dull on sides but front top are great.Front bumper has some pitting and could be rechromed rear is like new.Wiper motor was recently rebuilt and is mounted but no blade assembly has been purchased yet as I would not drive it in the rain.Normal small drips under car when moved but nothing major.Floor mat in front has a small tear near door.
