Vehicle Detail
This auction is for an off-silver 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport (as pictured). It is a 4 Door, In-Line 6 Cylinder, 4WD, and has approximately 170K miles. It has power windows/locks, a stock Chrysler AM/FM CD radio, and is equipped with a hitch. I have had this vehicle for about the last 8 years and overall it has been reliable, solid transportation. I have had the occasional small maintenance issues, and for the most part I have been able to work through them myself with some minor repairs. However, my reason for selling it now is because of an ongoing issue with the cooling system. Over past year or so it has begun leaking coolant. The amount of coolant it leaks began somewhat small, but at this point it seems to be leaking at least a little almost everywhere I go, and I'm having to constantly refill it. I don't think it's because of any holes in radiator or hoses, nor do I think it's because of a leak in any gaskets. Best I can tell this is a water pump related issue. I'm basing this on the observations that there is no clear cut location where coolant seems to be coming from, but it seems to be originating from the area of where the pullies are located. Sometimes after shutting it off I can hear a light hissing sound coming from the same area and thats when it will begin dripping coolant. While the jeep does run and drive ok I'd strongly suggest that whoever purchases it address the coolant issue before you consider using it as regular transportation. Outside of that, motor sounds a little gruff but the sound is not much different then other Jeeps I have had beyond the 150K mark. I am not aware of any other major mechanical issue with it other then the cooling issue. I've listed all the other misc. issues with jeep I know of below. Please read all thoroughly. With that being said I will try to make myself as available as possible for those who wish to come see it. During the week I am only available at night from 6:30 pm - 9:00. Saturday and Sunday should be pretty open, just shoot me a message through Ebay (ask Seller a question button) and I'll work with you as best I can. NOTE: I will be going out of town the same day this auction ends (evening of Tuesday, November 20). If you are winning bidder and wish to have this vehicle in your possession prior to the Thanksgiving holiday you will have to come pick it up the afternoon, or very early evening of November 20th (same day auction ends). Otherwise you would have to wait until Monday November 26th to pick up. I am located in Warrenville Illinois near intersection of Winfield and Warrenville road. I have compiled a list of all of all the other known issues I have had with the Jeep since I owned it. Please read carefully as the Jeep is being sold as is and there will be absolutely no haggling and no refunds once the auction is over. Starting this Jeep is a little unique. I had to permanently run a wire from the battery to the starter after there was an electrical issue with the car alarm. In order to start the car, you insert the key, crank the ignition to on, and press a small button which connects the battery to the starter (see pic 09). I have had it this way for about the last 5 years and have not had any other problems related to it. I just never figured out how to get the ignition to start without the wire running directly from battery to starter and I left it as is. The interior panel on back hatch door is gone and the door can only be opened manually from the inside. Not sure what problem was here. You still can lock the door from outside, you just can't open it from outside. The pump for the window shield washer fluid isn't working. Connection between exhaust pipe coming out of engine and the muffler has been bridged with some makeshift hardware and needs to be permanently fixed. Driver side mirror is broke (glass inside mirror is cracked - housing is still there). Front left tire is worn and needs to be replaced. Intermittant electrical issues (same types of minor issues I have had with every other Jeep Cherokee I have ever owned). Radio, gauges and exterior lights work fine (directionals too). It's just the interiors that seem to be problematic. A couple of years ago the battery would go dead after sitting for more then a couple of days without bing used. I removed the interior bulbs as I thought a light staying on might be the issue and have since not had same problem. Has minor rust on drivers side along bottom, on front bumper, and other small amounts elsewhere. This vehicle is being sold as is. All sales are final. I have listed every known issue I am aware of with the vehicle. However, I am not a mechanic and do not make any sort of guarantee. Please ask all questions prior to bidding.
