Vehicle Detail

For Sale 1 1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega. #0490This Ultra-clean example of Chevy's rare performance H-body features a 2.0 liter fuel injected, dual overhead cam four-cylinder with electronic fuel injection. A first for GM in the 1970's. This car was restored by the seller in 2011. The body was stripped to bare metal, straightened, etch-primed then all body seams were sealed with urethane Tiger Seal seam sealer before getting painted with a single-stage Urethane Black paint that was later color-sanded and buffed to a mirror finish. The front end has an Unlimited fiberglass reproduction gravel guard with an owner-created fiberglass air deflector. It features new carpet, new weather stripping, new paint, new front and rear glass. The original. low-mileage engine and drivetrain work great and don't smoke. The exhaust features a factory stainless header and two glass-pack mufflers for a performance edge and nice mellow tone. The fuel tank was removed, cleaned and sealed with POR tank treatment, then a new fuel pump was installed. The original high-flow secondary pump was also replaced with a new rebuilt PYTHON pump. The car runs strong and is the original numbers matching engine that came from the factory. The motor and transmission rest on fresh motor/tranny mounts. A new clutch cable has been installed. The entire braking system has been rebuilt with new, calipers, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, pads and shoes. New 205/60R13 Sumitomo HTR tires wrap all four aluminum Cosworth wheels. The driver's side upper-control arm was replaced with a GT control arm. Both upper control arms now ride on polyurethane control arm bushings. New Monroe shocks are at all four corners of the car. The sway bars have been removed, cleaned and painted gold then replaced with new bushings and reproduction factory id labels. The wheel-wells have been cleaned, sealed with Tiger seal, then undercoated with rubberized undercoating. The engine has new sparkplugs, reproduction wires, a new timing belt and distributor belt, cap and rotor. The radiator has been recored. The interior is mostly original and looks great for it's age. The original build sheet was found in the driver's seat backrest and is included with the sale. The vinyl on the passenger's bucket is perfect. The driver's side bucket started to crack, but has been repaired with vinyl glue. The back seat is original and flawless, with a new vinyl edge installed with a new carpet backing. The dashboard features a reproduction FPM metals swirled, machine-turned dashboard face made of aluminum that was then tinted a deep, golden color. The dashpad looks great with only a small hair-line crack near the passenger's handle. The crack has been glued to prevent further spread and a Sunshade is always used when the car is parked. The dash is full of the OEM instruments, Fuel, Tach, Speedo, Temp and Voltage that all work great except for the clock, which has stopped working. I installed an aftermarket oil-pressure instrument to supplement the factory oil warning light. The SANYO CD/Cassette stereo sounds clear and loud and bellows out through the hatch-mounted MTX Subwoofer box.Limo-tint has been professionally applied to the hatchback windows and a six-inch visor strip has also been added to the new windshield. The windshield is shaded and features a factory-style radio antenna built in.The car is not perfect. The car has a few dings from a freak hailstorm that hit California in 2011 after the restoration was completed, so a purist will want to redo the bodywork and paint. The wheels are the original Cosworth Vega type, but could also use refinishing. The paint near the gas-filler has been damaged by gas-spilling onto it.But the car itself is a nicely preserved example of a rare automobile.Car comes with a car-show display panel and Cosworth Vega service manual. On Nov-17-12 at 20:24:47 PST, seller added the following information: The title is clear and the car is currently licensed and registered in California until march 2013. Being a 1975, it is exempt from California biannual smog inspections. On Nov-18-12 at 13:26:22 PST, seller added the following information: There are videos of this car running on Youtube.
