Vehicle Detail
I’m selling my 1989 735iL because I have purchased a newer 5 series. I've owned the car for seven years and put 50,000 enjoyable miles on it. Currently, it has 147,740 miles. The well known bullet-proof inline-six engine always starts and pulls strong in all gears. This BMW is a very comfortable highway car and is great for long trips. I've repaired the majority of the big ticket items that plague the second generation 7-series (E32 to the BMW enthusiast community) as well as numerous other small things. All parts were replaced with OE quality BMW parts. -LAD conversation to normal rear struts 50,000 miles ago -AC was converted to R134a last summer and still blows ice cold (new condenser, evaporator, and drier) -New blower motor and resistor (sword) -Radiator 2 years ago -Rear muffler last winter (OE Eberspacher) -OE catalytic converters two years ago (does not meet CA emissions) -Drive shaft approximately 20,000 miles ago (balanced and installed by BMW dealership) -Transmission rebuild at 100,000 miles. Transmission blew the input seal causing rapid fluid loss resulting in a burnt clutch. -New battery two years ago -Radio does not work -Minor rust (inside lower front doors, rear tail light, passenger front door, passenger front fender) I have a stack of repair bills for all repairs and routine maintenance I've had done over the past seven years as proof of repairs. Electrical systems work (windows, sunroof, heated seats, lumbar, power front and rear seats, door locks with heating, headlight washers...) The BMW was running fine when I took it off the road but a tune up wouldn't hurt. It will need: -Front rotors (shimmy while braking)-Front struts -Tires (they still have about 10,000 miles left but are old) -Driver's side window regulator-Surface scratch on windshield from wiper arm -OBC light bulbs (OBC works as it should but display has a bad bulb) -Saggy headliner -Rear headrest motors get 'stuck' when not used for a few months but do work -Passenger seat twist -Glovebox is off the hinge and needs a new gas strut -Trunk lock sticks occasionally -Comes with a salvage title but the body is straight. Passenger front fender has a DOT-R sticker. This BMW would make a great project car.
