Vehicle Detail
what we have here is a turn key BMW Isetta 600. it is not the little one you think it is. this one has 2 doors and can seat 4 people. the mechanical restoration is complete and it has a new interior that is not in the original style. i have driven this car all around ohio and would not hesitate to do it some more. i just dont drive this car often enough and sitting is bad for a car. i would like it to go to a good home. the mechanical restoration included a engine and gearbox overhaul.this includes all new bearings in the engine, cleaning the oil slingers and a new cam gear. the gearbox got a inspection and a new second gear syncro. rebuilding of the shocks. complete front suspension rebuild. new steering bushings. new tires.drive couplings. etc. it has a fiberglass dash and a new speedometer.my profession is exotic car restoration and i like BMWs so i really went all out with the mechanicals. the brake cylinders were all rebuilt, new steel lines were run and new rubber hoses used. all the parts missing in the pictures(over riders, bumper, etc) are in boxes and come with the car. i have a spare set of cylinder heads and some other assorted spares that will also come with it.under the seat upholstery is the original upholstery but unfortunately the front seat back upholstery is missing. the car had been reupholstered in the late 60s by someone and for some reason they removed that section. i made all new interior panels so there is the originals that will come with the car. like i said there is a few boxes of parts that come with it. it does have some rust, but i did not do any body work so it is to be expected. the previous owner replaced the floor with a simple flat piece so it does not have any embossing in it. he also used filler to hide the dent in the left side. from the inside it looks like the car rubbed a bumper end of a 50s car as there is a lengthwise dent in it about midway up the side. i did use incorrect front and rear glass weatherstrip to install them. at the time, correct rubber was not readily available.it did get e new set of side glass rubber which was quite expensive. the windscreen is cracked and has some wiper burn.i bought the car over a decade ago in an assortment of boxes and put it back together. there is a nice man in Georgia that can sell you almost any spare parts you could desire. it is available for viewing in columbus ohio during normal business hours.if you complete the bodywork it would be a really nice driver. i think it would take too much metal work to make a concourse car out of it but it is up to you. i have learned that i love to find them and bring them home and res-erect them and drive them around for a while but after that i lose interest. it has been a fun car but i am done. the opening bid is the reserve price. it will sell as is where is. i would be happy to work with anyone getting it shipped but it will be at buyers expence. car is for sale locally and this auction could be ended at any time if there are no bids. good luck.On Nov-14-12 at 16:57:23 PST, seller added the following information: i think it is obvious now that the opening bid is no longer the reserve price as i made a mistake in the listing. i did however lower the reserve price this afternoon. i would really like this car to go to a new home. it has relined brake shoes. it really is pretty much ready to go. it would make a great winter project for someone to do the cosmetics that it needs. this is the opportune time to paint it any color you like. i am afraid if it does not meet reserve this time i will have to keep it so this is the last chance. good luck. On Nov-16-12 at 06:43:51 PST, seller added the following information: this car does have an original muffler that is in good condition an a intact heat exchanger in good condition. all of the engine cooling tin is there and in good condition as well.it has an original fuel tap that works. i tried to keep the car as original as possible as far as correct parts.also the vin listed is incorrect. it is 136076
