Vehicle Detail
This is a vintage, classic, collectible 1962 Volkswagon Bug (that needs restored). I am selling this for a friend, and I have access to it. The story from the estate was a man got it for his daughter, father caught daughter's boyfriend driving it, told daughter it needed work, took out the engine, and that is how the current owner bought it a couple of years ago. It had been stored for years, last license tag I can see is 1976, title says 1975, inside a shed that collapsed, not on the car, but it let the weather in. I am not a mechanical expert but here is the description as I see it. The odometer reads 28,000 miles, and the lack of wear inside, makes me think it is possible but not probable so I have to say it has at least 128,000 miles on it. There is some spotty surface rust in small spots by the front and back windows. Needs brakes and paint. Rolls fine. As far as I can see, the car is all there except for hubcaps, battery, and an ignition key. It has the original A.M. radio. The dash looks nice and the seats looks useable. You will need to look through some dirt in the pictures as it has only been mucked out and not cleaned, yet. All of the emblems are there, one is off but there, and a piece of chrome is off but inside the car. There is even an Idiot manual. The headliner needs replacing. The floor pan is rusty, but seems to be solid. The bottoms of the doors are rusty, and the right one only opens from the inside and opens hard. I tried to turn the engine by hand but it would not move and I did not want to force it, so I would say it needs to be rebuilt. All the glass looks good. I can find no damage to it that points to any wrecks it may have been in. It shows no signs of being butchered, like the wiring, it all looks stock, but I have no idea if any of the electric works it has not been hooked to a battery. There are two spare wheels. I believe this car is a nice original car, last titled in 1975, that would be a great start for someone who want to restore and old classic VW Bug. There is no warranty or guarantee implied, this car is sold AS IS, NO RETURN. All shipping details need to be handled by the high bidder. I can store the car for a while and help load on a trailer. Please look close at the pictures and email me with any questions before bidding. I can email better/more pictures than ebay lets me upload. I reserve the right to end auction as it is advertised locally as well, unless already bid on. Thank you for looking and please take time to view my other odd collectibles I have for sale on ebay. baha On Nov-08-12 at 22:50:32 PST, seller added the following information: I had a member ask if the car had been converted from 6 to 12 volts and told me to look at the generator or the coil. The coil on the engine says '6volts', so I believe it has NOT been converted to 12 volts. On Nov-10-12 at 15:56:11 PST, seller added the following information: I just added 5 more pictures, under the bonnet and the engine area. I found it has 3 extra wheels (with old tires on them) not just 2. The cardboard cover under the bonnet that covers the wiring is in 2 pieces. Somebody said it was a 'HERBIE". I looked it up and HERBIE was a 1963 vw bug, #53.
