Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1974 Grand prix SJ car. I bought this car last year off the original owner in ohio and brought it home and never really used it. I collect old pontiacs and when the chance came around i went for it. I have since put some money into restoring it to original condition. The body is all original with no rust ever which i know is hard to believe coming from ohio. The guy garaged it every winter so it was not out in the elements so it saved the sheetmetal. It has been repinted once in its life years ago and I just replaced the vinyl top with the correct color one so it definetly stands out better now. I also redid the seats with correct material from Performance years pontiac...Door panels, dash, headliner and carpet are the originals. The seat just needed a little freshening so the are like new again. The SJ is fairly loaded car with pwr windows, locks, bucket seats,console,am-fm stereo/8Track player, tilt wheel, cruise control, and some others that im forgetting im sure. The original numbers matching 455 engine has never been out and even thou it has 100,000 miles on it It does not smoke at all ,has great oil pressure and runs quiet. the trans shifts great and the rear end has no noises whatsoever. Its a nice tight car that the owner went out of his way and took very good care of it...Even those big doors that never shut right close perfectly..Ivew never seen a grand prix whos doors shut like this one. the engine has all its original parts on it too like the carb,alt,distributor,etc... Like i said earlier the body has never been hit and is straight as an arrow...All the chrome and stainless are i grerat shape for their age...Not perfect but definetly nice survivor pieces. All five original rally II whels are there and it has an old set of period correct tires from the 70's on it. It goes down the road great but if your afraid of driving on old tires then i guess that would be left at your disgression to change them out for new ones. Ill galdly change them for newer ones if you so like. I have all the grand prixs important documentation from new in a binder...I have the original window sticker, original buildsheet from under the seat, warranty books and other pieces that was in the cars glovebox from new. Is it perfect?? Hell no but its almost 40 years old and is alot better than other cars i see at shows from time to time. It has a very reasonable reserve on it because i need to find a home for a few of my cars...Dont have the room i used to. If you want to talk in person or setup an appointment to see the car in person please call me at 267-246-6903 and lets talk about it a little...Im sure the next person will like the car as much as i do if not better.
