Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1932 Ford Model A Ratrod Project Car -- done in the style of MAD MAX! Really cool mean machine with speed and power to match. This baby started out with 1932 Ford Model A sedan, car, cab. And in the style of Mad Max various sheets of metal were added. I purchased it earlier this year to cruise to Lake Michigan. I had it taken down to the metal by Essex Body Shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with coats of PPG Shopline Clear added. The wood top was created by DeGennaro Guitars with a Paul Reed Smith blue burst. The convertible top is a canvas-style roof, that I waterproofed. Engine is an LT Chevy. Really fun to drive and super fast! Now for some of the specifics: - Engine was rebuilt in 2007 and has 50,000 miles on it, well broken in. No smoking! - Fuel-injected engine - Automatic overdrive - Very good tires, with full vintage moon tire covers - Seats are from a 1967 Sunbeam and are black leather - Also has a WW II gasoline ration stamp where the glove box would be This Ford is a project, there are a few things that you may want to have done to it. But it is a real eye-catcher and not for the faint of heart! Here are some of the things you may or will want to do to complete this beast: - Windshield needs to be completely attached, it is secured with a groove in the wood top and on the bottom via the pressure of the wood top. I did not add any additional silicone at this point. - You might want to install a power steering pump and line for easier maneuverability, however it does drive now but just requires a bit of muscle. The steering wheel sits a little low and with power steering would make driving it more comfortable. - You might want to hook up a speedometer and also a gas gauge. - Back seat is okay, it's from a newer model Ford Ranger truck, but you might want to replace it with a black leather/vinyl bench seat. The one in there now is comfortable, but I think black would go better and match the front bucket seats. - The radiator fan works, but you have to attach two wires together to turn it on (I usually do it when stopped at a light), when the car is moving the air cools the radiator and the fan doesn't need to be on. To make operation easier, you may want to install a 12A switch to control the fan. I didn't know how to do that so I left it as is. - NOW for the turning on of the engine--it's a bit tricky. Here is the process I was told to use: 1) take wire above steering wheel and touch or ground the wire to the plate above steering wheel to engage the electronic sensor to the fuel pump and 2) turn ignition to start and 3) if it shuts off after the 1st try, repeat steps 1 and 2. Sometimes a third try to required. Whoever gets this cool project will want to address this and make it easier to start on the first try. You will want to attend to a few areas that have some rust: 1) in the back below the wood frame I added some black rubber moulding using silicone and it affected the clear finish--there is a small amount of edge rust underneath the moulding. Or you can leave the moulding in place. 2) under the cab, the back wheel wells have a little bit of surface rust and some rust damage.
