1980 MGB Cal AC Ace AC Ace / Cobra replica The California Ace kit transforms the MGB roadster to a 1962 AC Ace look-alike, combining the best of British style, engineering and handling. Dimensions, weight and performance are almost identical to the original AC Ace. The AC Ace became even more famous in 1963 when Carroll Shelby dropped in a V8 and created the AC Cobra. Do a V8 conversion and you will have a cheap Cobra! This car was built between 1992 and 1994 using body panels from CF Enterprises California and a rust free 1980 MGB chassis and running gear. The engine was also backdated to the earlier twin SU carbs. It runs cool and the oil pressure is very good. It has made many several hundred mile trips lately. Updates included a major suspension overhaul including swivel axles, polyurethane bushings, front & rear shocks, lowering springs, hub conversion, 15x6 Dayton tubeless 72-spoke wire wheels and Hankook tires. Includes tonneau cover, top boot, LED taillights, Pyle radio with SD, USB and iPod inputs. The convertible top windows are clear with no cracks, there is a small patch on the drivers side rear (pictured). Paint is OK, but could stand to be repainted at some point. Seats are in very good condition as is the rest of the interior. The car runs strong and drives beautifully. MG parts are easy to find, plus 25 mpg makes this car very affordable. This car is equipped with the factory MG overdrive transmission. The car has picked up a trophy or two in area car shows.
