Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is this nice little 1970 IH Scout 800A. This Scout has an International Harvester V-8, a 4 speed transmission, and has had power steering added. It was sold to me as a 304, but it may be a 345 or 392. The engine compartment is pretty full!! It is currently set up as spring over axle, and has 305-75-17 radial all terrain tires on 17" aluminum wheels with fake beadlocks. This scout came out of the desert, and it has very little rust. I'd like to tell you no rust, but I am honest. It has some rust under the battery tray, and it has some in the fenderwells. There is none I can find in the outer body. The body joint where the drivers side rocker and the rear quarter attach is broken loose, and needs to be welded back-if you want to-its not hurting anything. The rear hatch opens, stays up, and latches the way it should. The rear tailgate is pristine and sets in both positions as intended and latches shut securely. The doors could use some aligning, and I suspect it was driven mostly with the doors off previously. I am selling it since it needs more work than I want to do to let my son drive it when he turns 16. I am not happy with the brake lines. They have not been extended the way I would do it. The front end has also not had the knuckles cut and turned to build in caster, so that should be done to make it drive better, along with correcting the angle of the drag link. I also believe it has lift springs added. It appears to me that you could put the springs back under the axles and it would still be tall. The interior is fantastic. It has a nice 6 point roll cage, the top is basically perfect, the glass is good, and the headlights work. The top may be off of an Aristocrat version judging by the yellow paint I see. Because I will not drive it on the highway until some things are improved, I will not let you either. You must bring a trailer if you buy it. This thing runs strong! It is scary powerful! The engine has been rebuilt-but I have no proof of that. I have tried to see the spot where the engine size is stamped on these blocks, and I have not been able to find it. It has an Edelbrock carb on it with a nice cone filter. There is no choke so it is cold natured. There are some vacuum lines that need plugged or otherwise addressed. It starts right up every time. It has an electric fuel pump and runs off of the drivers side tank. The axles are both Dana 44's out of a Scout II, and they are 4.10 ratio. Someone has put a lot of time and effort into this little rig, but they just didnt do the spring over in the manner that makes it a good highway driver. For off road use, it probably doesnt need anything done. The pictures tell the story. I can drive it right up on your or your haulers trailer. If you have questions, please e-mail me through ebay or call or text me at 573-619-2362. This is all of the pictures I have, but if you need to see something specific I will try to oblige when time allows. I have a clear Missouri title in my name. No trades.
