Vehicle Detail

1969 camaro SS SB V8 with a 4spd manual trans yellow with black interior 90k miles Believed to be a real ss 350 Camaro. It has the original numbers matching 12 bolt rear end, multi-leaf rear leaf springs, power assisted front disc brakes, factory dual exhaust hangers, and return fuel line. Was built in December of 68 before the x11/x22 stamping started. I have the previous owners info if you'd like to start backtracking the history of the car. This isn't the original engine or transmission. It is a small block with '68 ss camel hump heads with 202 exhaust valves Has an Edlebrock intake manifold, Hooker long tube headers, and an upgraded cam. The distributor has been upgraded from the old points style version to a newer oem HEI version. What has been done to it so far. New dash pad New door panels New carpet New valve covers and intake cover new right side upper control arm new alignment tires are recently new and all have good tread, although the fronts are too big, they rub on sharp turns master cylinder and metering valve front hard brake lines, upgraded to stainless steel braided front soft lines steering box, upgraded to the 12.7:1 quick-turn ratio, coupler, and I replaced the whole steering rack with original style parts. steers very nicely now. I stress tested this car by driving it 1300 miles from Seattle to Laguna Hills. So even if you live a pretty good distance away, I wouldn't be afraid to drive this car home. This is the list of what the car needs. Well, it could use everything, but for drivability purposes. The emergency brake cable is broken. New cable in hand, haven't installed it yet. I just leave it in gear and it doesn't roll away, even on hills. The car didn't come with seatbelts - I ordered a new set of brushed aluminum airline style lap belts, they look really nice and should work as good as the originals. I haven't installed them yet The suspension is due for some new bushings. It needs smaller tires on the front. This is a very solid car, originally from Arizona. The body is straight, but it needs a lot of help inside and out. It has had multiple paint jobs and the current one is full of splits and cracks. The quarters were replaced at some point and I suspect theres a bit of filler in the lower quarters and along the top alongside the trunk lid. To do it right, the paint needs to be stripped off and done over, but you could drive it as it is while you were working on the other things and not be embarrassed about it. And that is why I bought it, because it is a car that can be driven while being worked on. Also, recently, while the car was parked, one of the neighbors backed into the left front fender and dented it pretty good. It's just cosmetic, but it's there. I had a local shop look at it and they said they'd rather fix the fender than replace it. That would be up to you though. I wanted to do an RS conversion on it and the fenders are different anyway. As far as rust, there is some under the vinyl roof behind the back window. I've heard that with vinyl topped camaros, it's not "if" there's rust, but "how much". It feels about the size of two half dollars. I also noticed a little bubbling at the bottom of the right rear quarter and an even smaller spot at the bottom of the right door. There are some other small areas that need attention. No serious stuff except for that spot under the vinyl roof. They're easily fixed, I just want to make sure there are no surprises for the buyer. I'd like to have a $900 deposit within 48 hours after the end of the auction. Please ask if you have any questions. Compared to the other camaros currently listed, this is a really good deal. Don't miss out! I just took all new pictures. I'll post them and walk you through them as if you were looking at the car. The antenna is wobbly and is ready to be replaced. That circular thing on the hood is not a hood pin. It's some kind of lock to keep people from opening the hood. This picture show the rust bubble at the bottom of the door. There is some issues going on in the rocker panel as well. Might have been a result of the quarter panel replacement. Here is the rust bubble on the right rear quarter. It is a little bigger than a quarter. There are some big paint chips just forward of the trunk lid. Also, the vinyl top is not pretty. Here's a closer picture of the chip. you can also see the long crack running next to it. It's doing the same thing on the other side, but this side is the worse of the two. Here you can see the dent in the front fender. I have a closer up pic of it. The quarter here is clean. What you can't see in the pic is how bad the paint really is. Also, you can see where the paint is chipping just under the vinyl roof molding. Very clean here also. Here is a better picture of the dented fender. The bodyshop I took it to for the estimate said they could and would fix it instead of replacing it. I wasn't going to bother, as I stated before, because I wanted to do a RS conversion anyway. But that would be up to you. Here is a better picture of the locking thing on the hood. The headlight rings are missing. I didn't get new ones. RS conversion, remember? Here is  decent pic of the cracks in the valance. It's hard to see, but the hood has the same paint cracks. These cracks don't all look like they are from old filler. Some of them are on perfectly straight areas. I think the painter must have put too much hardener in the paint mix. It's too brittle and the temperature changes have done their work. Here we go under the car. this is the front left side."> This is the front right side. This is the left rear. ST - body style Vin# 12437 1 - chevrolet 2 - camaro 4 - 8 cylinder engine 37 - coupe body NOR204315BDY NOR - Norwood, Ohio factory 204315BDY - chassis number TR 711 - interior trim - Black, standard bucket seats 65 B PNT - exterior paint code. 65 - Gold, B - Black vinyl top 12B - build date. 12 - December, B - 2nd week(the last week these cars were made before the x11/x44 stamps) The engine bay isn't pretty either. but the engine runs good. I'm going to add some videos at the end. The radiator is enormous, meant for a big block car. I replaced the master cylinder and the metering valve. I also installed all new stainless lines for the MC and front brakes. the end lines are steel braided. Brakes work awesome now. Here is the new steering box. The interior is in pretty good shape. there is no ashtray, or bucket for the glove box. You can see where someone made some holes for switches to the left of the steering wheel. It still shows pretty well though. Another interior shot that looks deceptively good. the top of the back seat is dry and starting to crack. the inner quarter panel cover are doing the same, and it needs a new speaker tray cover. None of these are expensive, but they weren't a priority for me either. Video Click here to play the video! Well, those are all the pictures. I may try to get a video of the car driving around before the end of the auction. I've tried to be as up front and honest about the car as possible. I'm not trying to hide anything. This car does need a lot of work, but it's not a basket case. I drive it almost every day. I've been fixing things here and there as I go. I'm going to fix the e-brake cable before the car sells. What makes this car cool is that it can be driven as you work on it. If you have any questions, just ask. I will be happy to answer them. Thanks for looking!
