Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1995 Pontiac Firebird Formula SLP Firehawk # 411. I am the third owner of this wonderful vehicle. This is a 315HP car from SLP and still has the original two on the left still installed. I purchased it in 2005, and drove it roughly 4,000 miles before parking it in the garage in 2009. When I parked it, it had all the typical LT1 problems that we have come to hate over the years. In 2009, I came up with my plan to rebuild this car and began to collect all the parts needed for this car. I had collected the bulk of the parts needed by mid 2010 and began my project. I removed the rear end and upgraded to the 98 thru 02 F-Body rear disc brakes including stainless steel brake lines, drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads. I replaced the fuel tank sending unit and installed the high performance fuel pump kit from Racetronix. I installed tubular lower trailing arms, panhard bar, 25 MM sway bar 1.5 in drop springs and AGX adjustable shocks. I also installed sub-frame connectors and a modified adjustable torque arm on the rearend to remove the stress from the tail housing of the T-56. In early 2012, I finally was able to drop the engine/ transmission out of the car and get down to business. I stripped the complete front suspension out at the same time. The engine was stripped down and completely cleaned. Rotating assembly, cam, lifters and oil pump weren't removed. Replaced timing set, water pump drive bearing in block, and all gaskets/seals. Installed high performance water pump and opti-spark with 11 MM spark plug wires and MSD Blaster coil. Cylinder heads were cleaned inspected for damage. Installed all new Comp Cams 1.6 ratio rollers rockers, push rods, double valve springs, seats and caps with locks on both heads. Cleaned and inspected the intake and reinstalled it on the engine. Cleaned and reinstalled original throttle body with SLP airfoil. Installed Edlebrock Ti- Tech coated TES headers with matching Y-pipe. Also installed a Fidanza 12.5 flywheel with a stage 3 clutch. I drained the T-56 and refilled with AMSOIL. Replaced the motor mounts and transmission mount with Energy Suspension polyurethane. Upgraded the front suspension with Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings, all new ball joints and 98 thru 02 F-Body front disc brakes including stainless steel lines, drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads. Installed a 35 MM sway bar, 1.5 in drop springs and AGX adjustable struts. On the interior, I have recovered the headliner and visors to match the T-top sun shades that I purchased. Installed a 98 thru 02 center console, still have original console. Installed Alpine and Rockford Fosgate component speakers in all stock locations. This car has the original hurst shift knob and short throw shifter from SLP. I haven't done anything to the exterior of the car, but have all the correct decals once it is repainted. The original Speedline rims are still installed on the car with all the center caps and lugnut caps. This car is almost 20 years old, so you can image it does have some minor door dings in the quarters. There is a scratch on the passenger door onto the quarter, an easy fix for any one. I have all three original shop manuals from GM for this car, that will be included in the sale.
